I was asking him what he said had disappeared from that list. SoV is right at the top of the list. Try again. |

My question is this. The title of books usually have something to do with the storyline. Does "Shadow of Victory" promise of a victory to those who have been in the shadows, the MA? Or is it a play on words for the GA who win, in a word - w/o a shadow of a doubt? Or does it mean something totally different, that the GA or even the MAlign has come closer to victory by this books end? So close that it forms a shadow - to be cast on the following book?
Too many variables, like the MA's research on the genome. I'm losing it here! Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

You're overthinking it. "Shadow" simply means that it's mostly going to be following the plot lines from the previous Shadows books: Shadow of Saganami, Storm from the Shadows and Shadow of Freedom. Given that Himself is adament that it's a mainline book (there are no "side stories") we'll probably see the Mandarins tying themselves in even more knots, etc. |

I suspect the 'Victory' referred to is Mesa. The title as a whole may refer to what takes place when interstellar attention is drawn upon that - the MA's next step, in other words. Possibly, it refers to whatever event causes the deaths of millions of Beowulfans. One notion that has occured to me is, the seizure of the Mesa system may cause the GA's message about a Mesan Alignment to be taken less seriously. |

I asked for all David Weber titles, sorted by publication date... and there it wasn't! Given the uncertainty over whether Tor can meet that date, my first assumption was that it had been pulled because they won't and don't have a new one. Turns out that it simply isn't indexed as a MWW book, but still turns up if you look for it by title - but I was already responding when I thought to try the alternate. Looked at the post and decided to amuse myself a little by finding out if anybody else had come across that.

Thanks. "Whew," I was way too invested in that one. One more "snotty" question. What type of ship is that depicted on the cover? Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

My guess? Pinnace or shuttle in low-speed air-breathing configuration. Looks like they forgot to pass Mr Mattingly any of Maxx's small craft renders.

They could also be army sting ships of some sort - That name pretty much covers military attack helicopters up through orbital fighter craft. Pretty much, if it is made to attack, and isn't designed to travel between planets, MWW seems to call it a sting ship. ******
RFC said "refitting a Beowulfan SD to Manticoran standards would be just as difficult as refitting a standard SLN SD to those standards. In other words, it would be cheaper and faster to build new ships." |

Well, I figured it might be an assault shuttle, simply because we don't have any art worth showing of those at the moment - mostly just very preliminary stuff from years ago that will need reworked to match our current design philosophy. Could also be something from another Star Nation, police force, or whatever. =================
