and depending on hyperspace physics, FTL communications might or might not work there. I hyperspace there is between 12-100 sub bands inside each main band.
If grav pulses bounce off of the sub band, than FTL communications would only be about 1% faster than light-speed communications. In other words, not worth it.
If, on the other hand, grav pulses bounce off the next higher main band, than FTL communications in a grave wave could be utilized. For example, In the alpha band they may bounce off of the beta band which is 767 times normal space light speed. If a ship was in the bottom sub band, FTL communications would be 767/62=12.37 times faster. if the ship was near the top of the alpha bands, again we are looking at about 1% faster.
The actual answer to this question would have to be settled by RFC, and as it is unlikely to come up in a story I doubt will ever be solved, not that I am worrying about it.
