Don't forget in the unlikely event that someone comments to mark it as a spoiler if you give out any details.

I would guess that because of the number of targets, a single shrike might have a bit of a prolem against the entire mercenayy force of ships.

either a ferret or Katana should clean their clocks.

If you dig around we have an amusing thread about that shortly after ACtAs was released (or when the eARC was; don't remember).

It even got silly enough to wonder how a modern pinnace would do in that battle. It certainly has far more acceleration than anything that old - but apparently it's laser is still far weaker than the warship lasers of the era :D

Yeah, don't forget that a Roland is roughly the same size as a BC from that battle (and is FAR deadlier). The appearance of a current BC or (worse) and SD in the middle of the battle would be unimaginable to all involved.

RFC said "refitting a Beowulfan SD to Manticoran standards would be just as difficult as refitting a standard SLN SD to those standards. In other words, it would be cheaper and faster to build new ships."

Ah, went and looked. The thread was Call To Arms and it heads off on the modern ships vs Volsung tangent before the end of the first page.
