Last I heard, he was still on the Honorverse, although that should be wrapping up soon.

I presume you still have some contact with David... Should that be the case, give him our regards and our hope that he had a better winter this year ... not just because are looking forward to the books!

There is a possible scenario consistent with this date : when David wrote HFQ he in fact wrote HFQ AND AtSoT, gave both to TOR and went to Honorverse, where he is writing at the same time the next 2 novels, allowing him to both publish one in november this year and the other beginning of 2018.

Unfortunately, Duckk is the one individual on here who would know if that were true, and hasn't been known to mislead us.

Pure, rampant speculation on my part, but perhaps MWW spends time on several works at the same time. He might work for a while on a Safehold work while the creative juices are flowing freely, then when they slow down he might shift attention to an Honorverse work, or even to a joint effort (like his recent release with Joelle Presby).

While this might slow down any individual work, it would "keep several irons in the fire" at all times. When I listened to David speak at the National Book Festival last year, I got the sense this was how he worked.

Then, on top of it all, the editorial process is always a wild card - even if you're using an editor you've worked with many times before.

And then finally, remember this - the Honorverse books come out of Baen. The Safehold books come out of Tor. I've really got no idea if / how well they might coordinate their publishing schedules.

I guess, when all the factors are considered, one could see several Weber works hitting the streets at almost the same time...

David generally works on one book at a time. Sometimes he may have books in different stages, like one in first draft while a second is in final edit, but by and large he prefers to focus all of his attention on what he's writing on at the moment.

Let's all just be grateful that RFC is not George R. R. Martin, who takes years to finish one novel.

Agreed. I got too frustrated waiting for the next book with GrrM. My current plan it to wait till the final book in his series has a publication date, then re-read the series.

I heard about his "schedule" before starting the series. I will read it when he finishes it. Can't wait that long between books.

Is there any chance of getting an update from him?
