Rather than try to retrieve an old thread, I'm just going to ask the question... Has there been any recent news on the next Safehold installment?

I've been looking as well, and I've not come across any – which isn't to say there isn't any!

Yeah, that's not going to happen, unless David has a time traveling DeLorean he hasn't told anyone about.

I find myself wishing that David would give us ten minutes or so of his time to enlighten us about what he is up to and his anticipated publishing schedule for what he is working on.

I don't think the publishers are responsible for all the Amazon dates.

I think that whatever system Amazon uses, they need to put a "real" date in, rather than a "to be announced" label, when they make a new entry for an announced (yet details to be announced later) title.
As a comparison ... GRRM and Winds of Winter - nobody knows when it's really going to be coming out, but everybody knows it's coming out at some point, so it has a published date that's BS.

I'd personally much prefer that Amazon have a "to be announced" designation or more clearly speculative dates (ie, "spring 2016") instead of dates that they made up. I don't think that something along those lines would be a serious problem to work out.

Bummer to hear. I'm guessing that you were being serious here and not playing an April Fool's joke on us? It's a slender hope, but better than nothing.

It is the publisher that is responsible for the "wrong" date or rather the it system of the publisher.
Look at http://us.macmillan.com/mobile/book/9780765325587 for the same date on Tor's site.

What happens is that 5 years ago (or whatever) David and Tor signed a contract for X books and agreed on publication dates.
These get entered in the internal database with all other info, at some point tor is certain the book will be made and enters a title and requests an isbn.
Since they don't know the real publication date the date isn't changed.

After the isbn and title are there the database knows the book will be produced and opens the entry up for the it systems of the retailers and marks it as public on their site (if you know the url with the isbn).
Amazon is just one of the few that adds it immediately to their site instead of waiting until the publication date is 6 or 4 months away.

By the end of june Tor will probably know the date and change it and amazon (and others that have the book up at that point) will automatically update their site.

And that is the joy of automatic systems and content api's for you.

Last I heard, he was still on the Honorverse, although that should be wrapping up soon.
