Getting your stories mixed up.

Flechlett guns are perfectly legal. Kill multiple people. It is nothing more than a Honorverse Shotgun

Nullfield guns, still sold in Silesia, were banned. That is the gun Honor got nailed by in HotQ.

munroburton is correct, the story (fairly sure it was with one stone by Tim Zahan, it is the one where we firmst meet charles the conman anyway) does have a scene where the convoy Honor is escorting is ambushed by a privateer looking for "Shredder Darts"

I'm pretty sure Honor was injuried by a Sonic Disrupter back in HotQ

Or let us hope that this is just a phase that peters out on Old Earth.

I suspect that improvements in detecting, destigmatizing, and treating mental issues has vastly reduced incidents o school shootings. At least on planets that didn't slide into new-barbarism.

But we also know from the incident with Warneke (sp?) in Honor Among Enemies that the energy source capable of powering a pulse weapon is easily detected at short ranges. That's why honor had to hide her archaic .45 instead of a modern purser. It wold be easy enough to put to power detectors on school entrances; which should trigger far less false alarms than metal detectors; since less stuff would need that compact and powerful a power source.

But I suspect most places don't see the need (see again improvement in metal health screening, treatment, and destigmatizion)

Nitpick, Honor didn't hide her .45 inside a modern pulser, she hid it inside a small laptop keyboard sized case, which had a keypad, and a 9-volt battery for her controls of the double-tractor suitcase nuke attached to the outside of the pinnace.

They swept her for pulsers, and a 9-volt was far too little juice for a modern (or presumably archaic) pulser.

But the "keyboard case" was actually sold as a special accessory in a lingerie department's safe sex section... it was an alluring and soothing "garter belt" case whereby the manufacturer claims is engineered for the stupid "dildo."

And therein is the long awaited revelation of Victoria's Secret.

"I'm packing a bigger weapon in my pants than you."

Now, off to church I go.

But she "executed" a .45 Smith & Wesson as a Derringer that she pulled on Warnecke. Well, she didn't exactly pull it from under her skirt but it did come out of her lap. May as well have come out of her arse as far as Warnecke knew.

Only the Salamander can deploy a .45 like a Derringer.

Nothing up my sleeve... BAM! BAM! BAM!

My bad...

A .45 in closed quarters is more like BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Nit pick, Lady Harrington's pistol is a replica .45cal or 11.35mm M1911A1 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol). Which IIRC was a gift from HADM Matthews. And by the way is no Derringer.

I was referring to the way she concealed and deployed the .45 sabre. Pulling it out of thin air.

The major reason it worked was Warnecke was not considering weapons other then Pulsaers. Honor has constantly won fight by taking advantage of someone not considering other options then the ones they been trained to expect. Honor has said that there is no such thing as surprise just some one not looking at the other possibilities of a situation.

For a second there I thought I'd made a typo; but no I said "instead of" not "inside of".

If she'd tried hiding a modern pulser in the keyboard it would have been easily detected by the scanner, but the chemical powered .45 has no energy signature to detect.

For a lady to protect herself, why not use a stunner. Evidently, they are much better in Honor's time than a current Taser.

She had it in a briefcase IIRC

What we have here is a failure to communicate.

Yes, she had it in a briefcase. IIRC, it ejected into her hand with the simplest of movements. BUT... as far as Warnecke was concerned, it may as well have come from under her skirt, her garter, out of thin air, or even out of her arse, as I penned a post or two back. It's sudden deployment was a wide-eyed, shitless and shocking revelation as I imagine any Derringer would be when unexpectedly deployed. Ok?
