I have to wait till the book is translated.

And if that isn´t enough, the german Publisher cut every book from David Weber into two books. This means, i have to wait twice. Wait for the first half and then a few months for the second half.

Read one of his translated books in english with the german translation nearby, but use it only as a last resort - so I learned it. Ok, you have to really dig in for ... oh, the first 100 or 150 english pages or so ... but after that you're more or less over the hill. Remember, I don't say, it will be easy after that ... but it will start to make fun. (so was my experience, at least)

Will the book be available in kindle? Living overseas makes it difficult to have hardcover books shipped over and then carried home when it's time to leave.

amazon are taking pre-orders for it.

or if you prefer to buy direct from baen like me (mainly for the e-arc but it is nice to cut out the middleman and make sure all money goes to Baen and RFC) there will be the option to download in either epub or kindle compatible formats

I bought "Call to Arms" from Baen because their version is DRM-free. At the moment I use Kindle, but perhaps in the future (in 20 years or so) I have another reader using a different format.

If you have an Android device, tablet or smartphone, the Aldiko free app from the Google Play store handles Baen's books in Epub format.

Caliber with some extensions will peel off the Amazon drm.

I believe Baen's ebooks on Amazon are DRM-free; Amazon doesn't require it.

Besides, I'm not sure there's a market large enough to support non-Amazon pure eBook readers anymore. Anyone but the most serious readers (like many of us, granted) is probably fine reading on a phone or table at this point, and Amazon has no problem making apps for non-Amazon devices.

I believe you are correct. The advantage to buying direct from Baen is that you get access to it in every format they support (without using something like calibre to convert it). So I could have the rtf version to search through using a word processor looking for a half-remembered bit of text to quote here; or read it online in their html format.
Also I know Baen had been releasing the ebook a few weeks before the physical copy, and I think that was also a couple weeks before the Amazon kindle version released; but I'm not sure about that as I'd been in the habit of buying direct from Baen long before I got a kindle; much less when they started selling kindle version through Amazon.
However since they just announced they were now going to be doing simultaneous paper and ebook releases any timing advantage of Baen over Amazon is moot.

And there are advantages to buying direct from Amazon if your already in their ecosystem. The books are automatically available in their cloud for download to any kindle device or app on your account. And they've become less friendly to side-loaded content. You can still sort it into collections, but that organization is lost if you get a new kindle. Similarly a side loaded book won't IIRC wispersync your last read position even if you copy it only two different devices on you same account. You can work around those limitations by emailing each non-Amazon ebook to your kindle; but that's an extra step over native kindle books.

Going by the blurb, it sounds a lot like what was happening in SoF, only on a larger scale. If Operation Janus involves enough rebellions, especially in systems far away from GA control, they could pull it off, if nothing else because the RMN won't have enough hulls. It'll also make a good cover for the Renaissance Factor.

That said, Manticore will try to assist every rebellion it can. And this could be just the moment to take advantage of the numeric strength of the RHN.

I don't think they would be able to do the operation janus to far from areas the manties are in. Get far enough away and even the most fanatical are not going to truly buy that the manties will be able to swoop in and save them simply due to distances involved. Stuff in and around their spheres of influance sure but it can be that far afield or it would be totally implausible.

Once the manties roll into a few of these flare ups they are going to be able to get news on other freedom fighter activities on other planets so it should be reasonably easy to get an idea where firebrand was at play and where to go to help out.
