Something I've been wondering for a while now...the basic formation for capital ship combat in the Honorverse is the 'wall of battle'...how do pod-layers stream pods without having them destroyed by the ships behind them? The obvious answer would be to stagger the ships, but wouldn't a sufficient offset to provide pod clearance distort the wall to the point where its tactical advantages are lost?

I guess a simpler way of coming at this would be "How wide is the wedge on an SD-sized hull"?

A wedge is about 300KM square.
D=1/2AT^2
A=5KM/sec^2 = 510G's
T=60 seconds
Distance one minute = 9000 KM

remember that ships aren't on top of each other. Pulling a number at random, suppose that separation is 2,000 KM.
offset each row 200KM and pods will miss the wedge of following rows even if the ships are stacked 10 rows deep. (10X10=100 SD's)

Logic: an organized way to go wrong, with confidence.
