PS: Look up the full poem, to just the last line!

"Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."

You couldn't ask for better, short of actually writing "Honor Harrington was here!" in impact craters.

Honor won't go in for long speeches or quote some classic work. It'll be simple and direct. I suggest:

"Let justice be done. Fire!"

Isn't part of the Beowulf code a preference for body births? I thought Ally carried Honor to term, just as she did for Honor's siblings.

It's a cultural quirk, not a part of the Beowulf Code. And, Yes, Ally carried all of her children to term for natural childbirth.

Which leaves us two questions, IMHO.

First, what is currently the most memorable Honor Harrington line? (I discount "Let's be about it" since it's used multiple times and we know it orginated with Captain (now Admiral) Bachfisch). In other words, what must the MWW have Honor outdo?

The two that come immediately to mind for me are:

"Your Grace, I have only one question. Do you wish this man crippled, or dead?" -Flag in Exile

We're home, System Command," she said. "It took us a while, but we're home." - Echos of Honor

Other may have other lines uttered by HH. I'd welcome seeing them.

The second is if this book is to be entitled Shadows of Victory, that leaves the final book to have an "Honor" title, so allow speculation to commence on what that title will be. I vote for "Honor Triumphant" myself. YMMV, so post it here.

Well, I'm going to assume that I let my cat out of the bag in the one-liner's thread. And the reigning Queen of my most memorable, and still heavyweight champion of the world in my subjective mind...
"We meet again, Admiral Tourvile," she said. And her soprano voice was cold.

I say, Brrr... It's gettin' cold in here. It must be the vacuum of the atmosphere.

Aside:
Do you notice how fate is in tune with nature? Even in fiction? That most powerful and memorable line wouldn't carry as much impetus if delivered with anything other than Admiral Tourville.

For me, it really falls flat and loses its fizzle at "Commodore."

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

"Queen's Honor" I also like "Scout's Honor" (imagine a scout that is telling Honor that he somehow stumbled onto the MAligneyHole :o

"Scout's Honor?"

"Scout's Honor mam."
