Who are you gonna rob to pay for it?
It's getting to the point where there's nobody left to rob.

Every time the government announces "Free Stuff!", my first question is:
It's getting to the point where there's nobody left to rob. |

Any time the government starts subsidizing something, the only competition is to see who can raise their prices highest to get the most "free money".
The two economic sectors with the most out-of-control costs are education and health care -- exactly where the government has been busiest trying to "control" costs. --------------------- If you tried to run a business the way they run the government, you would be in jail or the poor-house within six months. |

Mate, you're talking about a system where a TV show about a chemist who turns to making illegal drugs to pay off his medical bills makes perfect sense!

Most people want to "be rich" so they won't have to work - which is one of the reasons they don't get rich.

Oh my, YES Anyone who won't work at studying it, even part time, is gambling, not investing.
I like this one. The author of it states that except at first, the big hoaxes and bubbles were avoided over 30 years. For some reason, his slow but steady work paid off. My investing method is to study the ads for various newsletters, figure out the strategy they are using if possible, try it out with spreadsheets to see if it is workable for me, and last of all, try it with cash. From the same source. Not enough caution when starting out (ouch ), but learning Douglas Hvistendahl

You are way, waaaaay off. We have spent over 15 trillion dollars on Johnson's welfare boondoggle, and the cost just keeps going up every year. Even worse, they borrowed most of the money and the vigorish on that is nearly equal to the actual spending. And after all that, not only are "the poor" still poor, there are more of them than ever. How could anybody ever have believed that punishing hard work and success while rewarding failure and irresponsibility was a good idea? ----------------------- Welfare is pay without work. In order to provide pay without work for some, others have to work without pay. We used to call that slavery. |
