So in all probability, the odds of any of the volunteer bodyguard treecats developing any bonds are slim to none.

IF there's any bonding happening, it's because David is throwing Rose a bone to keep her quiet, and giving Shannon (and possibly a few other Havenites) properly bonded 'cats and not mere bodyguards. Although the odds of Rose keeping quiet if she gets her loves bonded treecats is slim to none, I'm sure he'll try.

Objection, facts not in evidence! Inference maybe but not hard fact, not even the cats are certain. All we know is that the ones who feel that call actively seek it, nothing that says only those cats can be bonded to humans.

Nimitz is a good example. He had no interest in bonding with a two-leg, it just.... happened.

I don't think it's possible to keep Rose quiet. There is sure to be some benefit to keeping her happy - or at least reasonably content.

not quite true. He had considered bonding with Alfred Harrington, but alfred's mental wounds were such that he was in no state to be able offer a cat a true look at who he was then, rather then the teenager he had been when last he was around the cats. After his return with Alison he was again considered but rejected due to the fact that he and Alison seemed to have a connection similar to a mated pair of 'cats and there was no "room" (for lack of a better word) for a bond with a cat.

but overall you are right.

Nimitz had no plan to bond with Honour and wasn't actively looking for a two-leg to bond with.

Nimitz had very special olfactory reasons for bonding with Honor. She "tasted" unlike chicken. And she smelled like salamander.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense
