What I'm wondering is if after book nine, ten or eleven when the current war is concluded, will Weber continue the series/make a new series with battles against the Gbaba, or will that be the end of it? I guess I'm asking this because I never want the series to end xD.

Welcome to the forums, Mapmaster. Feel free to drop over to the virtual bar and have a drink of your favorite virtual beverage at house expense. The answer is that the next book should finish this story arc. After a 20 year hiatus, the series will continue with another war, the great reveal and eventually, we hope, the final confrontation with the Gbaba. My impression is that the series total is to be 12 books. Don - When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

which means it'll be more like 15-18 books with the word creep typical in RFC's work |

Possibly. But it is also true that David is reaching a time of life where even though he will continue to be productive, he's going to want to slow down. The Honorverse is reaching a natural winding down of the mainstream books. Four more books to round out Safehold would put him at a time he could retire if he chose to do so. And to speak from a selfish perspective, I would rather see the series rounded out than see it abruptly dropped because he was no longer able to work. Frankly, I have no idea what's actually going to happen, but it is true that he has been heavily overcommitted and lightening his workload would be a good thing for both David and his family who've had more their share of health issues in recent years. agreed. a proper end, would be much better then an unfinished series.
a chance for RFC to sit back and catch his breath for a year/2 would not be a bad thing either. |

I'm sure that the constant drumbeat of "more, more, more" does have a wearing effect, and as one gets older, things do inevitably begin to slow down.
I will be quite happy to see the 3 series in action successfully completed in time before I'm gone. Yes, I'm another of the "more" people. Dan Jones |

Agreed. I'd like to see the "i"s dotted and the "t"s crossed, too. It so seldom happens. Gordon R Dickson never rounded off the Dorsai cycle, Sterling E Lanier only ever wrote the first two books of the planned trilogy about Hiero's adventures, and Tolkien never wrote more than an outline of the book about Earendil, that was to have been the core of his Middle-Earth stories. If he wishes to slow down, then we should all support that. . |

I also want to see more, but not at the cost of his or his family's health. All I can say is what he publishes somehow finds its way into my personal library. Must be by some unknown to science form of literary osmosis. Yeah, that sounds good, I'll stick to that theory. At least until its been disproved!
Then I'll form a new hypothesis. Stay healthy RFC, and may your inkwell ever be fresh! |

In an interview a couple of years ago the master said that there were three wars in this series: First, there is the war against the Gang of Four in the church. Second, there is the war to convince the people that the basis of the church is false. Third, the war against the Gbaba. Whether this remains the overall plan or perhaps has changed because of illness, other pressures, or whatever, I know not. Gunny |
