Mostly agreed. In fact, given the industrial rebuilding that Manticore is going through? I wouldn't be surprised if military ended up packaging all their freight in missile pod sized(or proportioned) units out of deliberate standardization or sheer convenience. The same way we use 6m/12m shipping containers globally.

I think the counter missile suggestion is a technologically valid one-any reason a LAC couldn't tow a couple in order to stiffen their screening capability? Or have a SDN drop some counter missile pods to supplement a Roland's limited ammunition?

Granted, I don't see who would force the GA into getting creative to boost their missile screen.

At this point, it's probably better for the Rolands to use their speed to rush out, skirmish until out of ammo, and then hang out out of the way. And by 'skirmish', I mean 'hand the SLN wall of battle their heads'. Why shoot countermissiles when you can destroy the opposing missiles still in the hold?

The main reason there won't be any CM Pods is RFC said it isn't going to happen.

The logical reason is that CMs are much smaller (shorter) than the attack missiles that there would be a lot of wasted space -- more CMs can be carried without pods than with.

Well that's a great reason!

Ah, I'd forgotten the size difference. I still think it's probably possible(just carry more missiles in the pod?), but there just isn't any point.

If you were going to send a cargo ship or a convoy to someplace and you suspected or anticipated that there would be a pirate or commerce raiding strike, you would task an escort approtiate to the expected problem. Sending an SD(P) with a convoy along with CA's and DDs might work in the anticipation of an anti-commerce strike since you are going to expect actual warships and possibly several of them

You do face a question of what to do with the SD(P) after you got where you are going. Does it stay there or does it either contiune on with the convoy (you are not sending it with just one ship, it would be a multi-ship convoy) or use it to cover a return voyage by another convoy?

If you are sending an SD(P) someplace- like Hercules [not and SD(P)] to Spindle and expect it to be there a while- you might want to stuff any available space with extra ammunition, routine pairs and anything you wanted shipped there from a military or governmental source.

A redeployment cruise can be a bit different. Like the occasional picture you see of a USN CVN with a flight deck full of sailor's personal vehicles when doing a base change.

No reason to waste the square footage on a non-combat base change cruise. OTOH loading a flight deck full of cars doesn't require you to offload any munitions. Filling pods worth of maintenance items displaces pods full of missiles that you'll want once you've reached your new base. OTOH there's something to be said for distributing critical supplies across multiple ships so while you'd almost certainly send a missile collier or freighter along with more supplies it might make some sense to reduce the missile loadout of the SD(P) for the relocation to load up some other supplies into pods so that you are stuck with missiles but no other (maintenance) consumables in the very unlikely situation where the other ship didn't make it...

A ruling from the judges says you have to be more specific please.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

Peas are what you get out of a pod, not what you put into one. :D
