well if wikipeidia is to be belived.

Following the First Battle of the Atlantic, by 1915 Britain was in desperate need of a countermeasure against the U-boats that were strangling her sea-lanes. Convoys, which had proved effective in earlier times (and would again prove effective during the Second World War), were rejected by the resource-strapped Admiralty and the independent captains. Depth charges of the time were relatively primitive, and almost the only chance of sinking a submarine was by gunfire or by ramming while on the surface. The problem was luring the U-boat to the surface.

A solution to this was the creation of the Q-ship, one of the most closely guarded secrets of the war. Their codename referred to the vessels' home port, Queenstown, in Ireland.

Or we force a respective author to pigeonhole their art under the brand of Fantasy. Whereby Sci-Fi is Fiction is Fantasy. <shrugs insouciantly>

Because of the lack of the overbearing weight of truth in physics, Fantasies tend to deliver more meat on the bone. IMO.

Truth agrees with reality.

False disagrees with reality.

Fantasy only resonates with reality (so we can understand it). Therefore all fiction is fantasy, and all fantasy is not true, since there is no solid connection with reality. It is fun, tho, if well done.

I add that more scientific papers, even peer reviewed ones, turn out to be fantasy than most people realize. More emphasis should be placed on replicating experiments and observations and less on how a theory is interesting.

The suprerhero stories are set in a universe - or two universes - that work differently than ours. Many aspects are similar, superficially. As long as there is consistency, then all is good.

Star Wars is fantasy; it's great fun, but I don't remember anything factual about technology; discussions about the force, and something of its rules, then yes, otherwise no.

I think the physics in Honorverse is good; mistakes occasionally happen, but I've never had any major WTF moments.

Even so, they are all stories of a scifi/fantasy nature, so are asking for some suspension of disbelief.

If suspending it is a problem, it's time to read/watch something else.

hmmmmmm" we must here ask....

Humor intended. Was HMMAC Wayfarer a repurposed Star Destroyer? and the more important question. Is Honor Harrington a Jedi? Is Nimitz' the Honorverse Yoda? Inquiring minds wish to know!

Was Harrington, like, using the force?

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

The Honorverse understands and respects physics, except where the power of plot drives it, and even then the 'fiddly-bits" usually try to fit into the known universe.

Star Trek uses the word physics quite a lot, but doesn't really seem to understand what it really means.

Star Wars tell physics to take a flying leap and does whatever they damn well please.

Know that's not an answer to your OP, but I got up at 4am and I'm grumpy...

Nah. If you work a bit on it, it´s actually quite possible to come up with potential scientific ways of getting the SW stuff to work. Not to the same degree or with current tech, but in theory or on a different scale.

Hyperdrives? Easy. We just don´t have any tech today or on the near horizon that can do what we need to do to make it work(but there´s nothing in theory preventing that tech in the future).

Shielding tech? The theory already exists even from some very serious people. So far, it´s just so ridiculously expensive in energy that it would never be worth it. To shield a single tank against current tank guns, you would need the power from the greater part of one of the more modern continents(and at that point, electrical armour is soooo much better), but there´s no reason to believe that efficiency cannot be improved.

Lightsabers? Gimme unlimited resources and a few hundred years to work out the best way to do it, and i´ll build them.

Their "laser weapons"? Actually, those already make rather excellent sense for anyone who remembers where someone calls them "plasmalasers"(although whether that is part of the official canon or not is another question of course).

Anything can be done, if it can´t be done, it will take a few days longer to do.

Honorverse isn´t so much "more inline with physics" as it is far more expressive about telling how it works and link it known physics, while SW more often than not get 10 lines of "technobabble" by someone who isn´t really very serious about it(with some exceptions).
Once you start looking at "what happens" and "CAN this be replicated in any way?" instead of trying to do things according to the mostly useless techbabble, there´s usually ways to achieve most of it.
