A grazer or two along with a pair of missle tubes (with good magazine depth at each end for chaser mounts would certainly help.

A lot of that is implied in "Q-Ship" but anything I missed comes out YOUR pockets, not your friendly genie's.

Given the season, I think SS Shadrak, SS Meshak, and SS Abednego would be good choices.

Or Wynken, Blynken and Nod -- that set should be on removable nameplates so each trip the names can be rotated among the three ships. That way nobody will know which is the Q-Ship.

From the start I imagined this scenario as a 'bait car' type setup. And you beat me to the punch, being that I was slow off the mark. Hopefully Buships will accept both our suggestions as mine was a bit different... SS Shadrach, Meshach and Aboomugo.

I'll also toss in hidden meanings in names like RMN Makem, Callem, Phukem.

Legend: RMNs...

Makem (identify pirates).
Callem (lure them in).
Phukem (needs no intro).

Their record is exemplary. Wherever there is overwhelming trouble with Pirates there is an emergency request sent to Manticore to send out the RMCP.

They were formed in homage to the Royal Mounted Canadian Police.

Who da ya call? The RMCP!

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

Didn't Honor start out in her youth crushing pirates? Well Abigail can get her ticket punched with the GSN's OWN piracy supression... GSN Abo GSN Min and GSN Ation

Abby shrugs. "You make your own bed by bringing together an AboMinAtion of forces," "Cause them to come together at your own peril" and "Divided we fall, together we kick ass" are common examples of Abby's ever quoting of amended verses from Austin's Powers.

There are three other ships shadowing her protectively. *GSA's Reap Whatcha and Sow

I know Harold said only three ships. But this is Grayson. They have their rules. The shadowers are Armed Men.

*GSA, Grayson Space Armsmen, formed to pay homage by monies donated to the Armsmen Fund in respect to the many fallen with [H h]onor.

Since I'm dating Abby and very good friends with Stacy on the side, I also have three more ships in various stages of completion meant to be spares. GA Spare Spoil and Child.

You can bet that Rod is hanging over the quadrant like a Trojan Horse.

Shannon and Sonja, our lovely She Wolves of the S&S, have put their own ships into the piracy mix with their very own SS Alpha Beta and Omega.

Pirates are stupid and would hardly know their meanings. Alpha being the SS's first creation. Beta is meant to be a test bed (Sonja's at it again. Trust me, this time she got it too right). And Omega? Well, that'll be the end of any pirates stupid enough to tango.

I think that makes the She Wolves Kill Plate Owners?

Say what? Piracy cares!

You better ask somebody if you're a pirate!

It's ok. It just means the whole operation is working. It's a Q-ship. You're not supposed to care.

Just you keep acoming. Keep listening to our favorite piped in innocuous background Salamander registry broadcast selections of Hammerhead, Shark and Beehooven.

Many of us like to call it hellevator music.

IN honor of the other long-running SF series I read, the freighters would be the Michael Sterns and Rebecca Abrabenal, while that sharp-shooting Q-ship is of course the Julie Mackay.

No memo have I. What series are those exactly Hutch?

I'm aware of the Mariner missions, yes, but I was specifically referring to the first sets of spaceprobes launched on trajectories that would take them out of our solar system. The Mariner probes only visited Mercury, Venus, and Mars, and all of them are still orbiting the Sun (or Mars). Pioneer 10 and 11, Voyager 1 and 2, and New Horizons are the only space probes we've launched that are actually in the process of leaving the solar system - no other space probes we've launched are moving fast enough to escape the Sun's gravity.

IIRC Voyager 1 and 2 were originally part of the Mariner program as Mariner 11 and 12.
