Hi I was just thinking that Charis should start to issue flack vest made out of armor plate. This would be quite useful as the armor would not have to be that thick to stop modern rifle rounds and just covering the soldiers chest would be an immense help.

Now if we do not want to use steel Charis could issue steel thistle silk for armor vest as silk vest are able to stop at least pistol rounds and steel thistle is a lot stronger than silk.

I would think that either of these options would be quite beneficial for Charis's soldiers in addition to a modern bullet proof helmets as both of them would greatly reduce the number of casualties that Charis would suffer.

I doubt an economical armored bullet-proof vest and helmet could be made in any amount of time to help the average soldier. Pouring more resources into existing offensive weaponry to keep enemy return fire to a minimum would be better. That and providing better medical care to the Charisian wounded would probably save more lives for the same cost.
