Just trying to cover all the possibilities.

It would be amusing to find the IAN, with Herzog von Rabinstrage, in possession when Admiral Henke shows up the next day, but I seriously doubt that's what's going to happen.

We do know that's why the Anderman Empire decided not to join the Grand Alliance; they've got a serious bone to pick with the MAlign over the assassination attempt on the Heir.

We know that Mike is heading for Mesa. We also know that the Andies were deliberately excluded (and self-excluded) from the initial incarnation of the GA, with a very strong sub-rosa suggestion that the IAN turn its attention to someone they have a more ... personal bone to pick with.

The initial Mesan assessment is, IIRC, about two dozen of the wall. We know that Mike has a squadron of SDPs, a squadron of CLACs, and two squadrons of Nike BCs. Which is 24. But we also know that initial assessments tend to be low, which suggests more than 24 wallers have arrived.

A reasonable estimate is 36 of the wall, about 50 percent error. That's 4 squadrons of wallers plus a odd division. Which is a reasonable response to a threat to the Imperial Succession.

My own personal expectation is that it's the Aldermani. That's the sort of twist that MDW likes to throw at us. Mike arrives 24 hours later or so.

I don't think the system at Solon was completely installed.

The reason given in textev for three platforms is just good sense; one platform can't stay at high readiness indefinitely, and the hardware is going to need some maintenance sometime. The system could work with one backup, but it has to have at least one to be fully reliable.

Very unlikely. The Oyster Bay attack took a month or more to infiltrate and identify targets. The only way the MAlign could take advantage of a SLN attack to cover their own attack would be if the SLN just happened to show up at the right time.

It's a single control platform necessary, period. More than one is gravy, but is not anything like a requirement. A single Moriarty control base can manage the whole system.

Well, I suspect that access to Beowulf by SL vessels over the last 300 or so years is a lot easier than access to Manticore. Considering that the MA has been planning on attacking Beowulf all along, I would be willing to bet that they have all the data that they could possibly need. Besides, if you don't think that the MA has penetration agents inside the important organizations in Beowulf I have a very nice bridge I can sell you at a highly discounted rate.

Why would the Mycroft system not be included in the ban? Which is Manticoran missile hardware.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

The ban isn't on Manticoran harware, it is on Manticoran personnel -- especially Manticoran personnel that could be sonstrued by spin-doctors as intimidating Beowulf and skewing the Plebiscite.

You don't keep people at general quarters for every single day of the year. Fatigue was a problem at Lovat because the crew had been operating at full alert for 60 hours.

That's pretty much the point. A single platform can control an attack, but it cannot be ready for that attack all the time. There needs to be a backup/relief platform to alternate with to allow for hardware maintenance. Either that or the platform has to be big enough for multiple crews and duplicate hardware.
