I'd also like to see the assassination of Denver Summervale at the 'Okie Doke' Corral and the look on his face.
"WTF! The bitch didn't even draw. I'm hit. I'm hit. I'm hit ... " Honor isn't the type to gloat, but when she avenged Paul's death with Summervale and then later Young, I cannot swallow that the girl didn't breakout in an uncharacteristic jig right on the field. Someone should heve started playing Hammerwell over the PA right after those killings. Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

I enjoyed this in text as well, but an old fashioned .45 going off in close quarters would be great onscreen accompanied by a surprised Warnecke at the extended hands of a long-legged and angered Sphinxian.

Hmm. The main stage of Fourth Battle of Yeltsin might be visually spectacular. Didn't the Peep and Grayson formations effectively pass through each other?
Certainly deeply within energy range. |

Actually that was more of a torture than a assassination. Remember Honor shot him four times in the abdomen before blowing his brain's out. An abdominal wound is very painful with all the organs in their. By my reading of the text the first shot either nicked or just missed the right side of the liver, second hit the left side of the liver, third carved him a new bellybutton and the fourth probably shredded the middle of his diaphragm before spraying his brains out the back of his head. |

The problem with Honorverse space battles for a film/visual medium (even if i actually prefer it myself) is that even ships in formation are hundreds if not thousands of kilometers apart especially when in a wall of battle. And since combat ranges steadily increase throughout the story, its likely that some major scaling down of fleet combat ranges will be required to make a successful transition to the screen. Star Wars and Star trek get away with it but I don't think the fans here would agree with Battle of Corescant style ranges in the Honorverse. |

I think there's a strong possibility that missiles might be tossed out, minimised or get a delayed introduction in any film/tv medium. The selling point of the Honorverse is basically Hornblower in Space... and one of the best ways to evoke that kind of imagery is of two ships in visual range, blazing away at each other with broadsides. That's not my desire, that's my assessment of the film industry. They need something with the wow factor, if only for the ads/trailers. They also can't afford to waste screen time showing the bridge crew sweating for seven minutes as they wait for a missile salvo to reach them. So combat has to be massively accelerated and the way to do that is by reducing range. The TV battles will be fought the way the Solarian League wanted them to be. With crews mooning each other as the grasers recharge. And when one of the enemy ships blow up, everyone's deck will shake from the blast wave. Odds are ten to one(not one to ten!) we'll hear "Ramming speed!" at some point - even if the grav lance doesn't becomes a literal lance. |

OMG Saber! You should be a writer yourself. That description has me insides threatening rebellion. I'm with rose, I want to see it even more now. Not that I'd ever watch it with both eyes open. And with plenty of 'oohs' and 'ahhs.' No wonder certain Manticorans thought the girl was a psycho. Onscreen we would also be made privy to the Master of Arms' lack of professional neutrality... "So long... sucker!" Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. Watching a pretty woman vomit -- not my cup of tea. Watching Ginny at all would be awesome though. Heck, that first intro in From The Highlands makes it clear that She is a Force that will likely be underestimated -- you're having so much fun being taken for the ride to realize that the roller coaster ain't on the track you thought it was. She's sorta like Tina Fey quick witted with Sofia Vergara flirty with a bit of ScarJo's taunting ability thrown in just for awesomeness. Keep in mind she's the one female besides Thandi that Black Victor is actually a little bit afeared of. Not because she'll ever hurt him, mind you, but she's fully inside his protective shell and a tease to boot. ---------------------
All my posts are YMMV, IMHO, and welcoming polite discussion, extension, and rebuttal. This is the HonorVerse, after all |
