Some areas have faded out of focus, but may be the source of fresh troops. Emerald had an army and the leader was the great uncle of a liked, but probably not loved Prince. They have had time to get some of the new equipment and train. The folks from Emerald have a bone to pick and getting them in on the liberation of a few concentration camps may show them whats in their future if they try to set this one out. Chermayn has been princing (not sure that is a verb in English) for a while and though he probably can not provide a cold weather regiment, he probably could provide some well trained and nasty jungle fighters by opening the jails and turning them over to the scout-snipers.
The folks north of Chisholm could send some folks, eager to learn cold weathe tactics and get their hands on some new gear, also seeing the concentration camps in winter and helping the victums would be a good thing. I do not think the folks from Corisant are ready yet but they could provide some special troops and help with logistics. Torot is probably a little shaky but providing merchant shipping under the empire's guns might be a good thing to get them involved and see some concentration camp folks |

Emerald and Tarot are already providing seamen. Chisholm is probably supplying a majority of the troops already, supplemented by Marines from Old Charis. Zebadiah is stepping up to the plate nicely. Corisande is the Empire's most fragile unit. But enough has happened where I suspect that Gahrvai's vets will be ready to enlist in the ICA soon if it is not already happening. After all, having Hektor assasinated, attempting to do the same to Daivyn and nearly killing Irys on her wedding day hasn't done much for the COGA's reputation in Corisande. That's not to mention the about 1000 casualties to Clyntahn's rakurai. So I wouldn't be surprised to see Coridandians stepping up to the plate in significant numbers. Welcome to the forums. I hope you enjoy yourself here. Don - When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

Emerald, Corisande, Zebadiah and Tarot have "faded from view" because they were incorporated into the Empire of Charis. Some former Emeraldians play a prominent role in HFQ. .

More than likely there will be a battle or battles in Chisholm so Gahrvi will get his battle.

Hi Lelder,
Please feel welcome, and enjoy your favorite simulated beverage on the simulated forum. Duke Solomon, Nahrmahn's uncle, is apparently a pretty good general, so we might see his last campaign in Chisholm next year, which could be quite impressive. If you check LaMA, you'll note EHM's almost 12,000 casualties included soldiers from Tarot, Charis, and Emerald besides Chisholm in February's chapter 8. Others have noted the many volunteers from Zebediah, which are being well trained in Maikelberg. Unfortunately the total population of the Raven Lords is only 123,000, so the likely maximum number available would be 12-15,000 if it were an industrialized society; since it certainly isn't the more likely figure is something closer to 3-6,000, and even then their loss could be a near mortal blow to their people, as Australia's and New Zealand's sensitivity to casualties in WW2 demonstrates. So a special rear area group of 2-3,000 specializing in arctic transport might be as far as the Raven Lords might go. Corisande's forces which are being integrated into the ICA/N will require some considerable tactical training given all the various tactical revolutions since 893. Earl Windshare and his cavalry, if he hasn't adopted the ICA's dragoon approach, might do better in Chisholm than Haven against the Go4's armies with even faster firing rifles than BGV's. General Gahrvai is a very smart officer, so it might not take too long to bring him up to speed, but who's going to do it since all the best smart ones are already in East Haven? The Corisandan's military experience the last 4 years has been internal occupation, so their most immediate use soon might be in Silkiah or Dohlar, given their tropical locations as winter is in earnest northward. L

Yes. Raven Lands are much the size of Newfoundland in WW1 in population. Newfoundland's infantry losses in WW1 devastated the province for decades. In large part because of the devastation together with the Depression in WW2, no real infantry was sent though two artillery battalions were formed and large contingents served in the North Atlantic in civilian and military naval roles. That was all that could be managed. |

And Newfoundland had some reason to care and can be presumed to have had a fairly consistent anti-Nazi sentiment. The Raven Lands, by contrast, have been devout and loyal members of the Church of God Awaiting for hundreds of years and haven't suffered the attacks Chisholm, Charis and all have. They're not fastidiously neutral - not when they have let ICA troops cross their territory and sold them winter fighting gear and livestock. But the tiny quantity of Raven Land possible recruits for the Allies may be staying home just to avoid inflaming Temple Loyalists there any more than they already are. |

Okay as I remember it the Corisandian Army has an authorized strength of 35000 troops and a like number of ICMC occupation forces. But there are also the troops that were mustered out of the RCoA at the end of the Charis-Corsidian War. These troops would not take long to retrain and refit IIRC the RCoA was roughly 100-150000 troops. Also at a guess the ICMC has been rotating out its garrison forces trading able bodied troops with less able troops.

30,000 under Windshare trained to discourage insurrections, more or less supplemental to local guard units. You are right to point out the aprox 125, to 150,000 that once served in Corisande's army, many of them vets not only of the invasion, but from campaigns in Zebediah. Many of these could be recruited and have the rust knocked off their basic skills and trained with the new tactics and weapons. In addition to that, Corisande could be a fertile recruiting ground for up to 500,000 additional army, marine and naval personnel. I would see that as the primary untapped sourse of manpower the Empire has at this point. And the signs are positive. We know that Gahrvai is wanting to serve and in HFQ we learned that Tartian wants his admiral's streamer back. Where respected leaders set the example, there will be many who follow. I wouldn't bank too much on the Raven Lord's loyalty to Mother Church, if I were involved. The discussion between the Speaker and his son makes it pretty clear that Reformist, at the very least, sentiment is pretty strong among the younger population. I imagine that, as in the rest of the Islands, the hierarchy has been spending its moral capital, not building it, over the last half-century or so. Something the local prelates know very well given how the ranking local churchman was conspicuous by his absence when supporting the move west out of Chisholm was being discussed.
