WHAT?!!!

I was counting on the movie to clear up a lot of imagery in my head. Oh well. Why am I feeling like I do when a favorite tv series is cancelled?

There is a bright spot. I am sending a collection of Tales of Honor to my Romanian friends. I glimpsed all of them. NICE! I'm going to read them myself. I can get lots of technical stuff out of it! Although I don't know what the hell that thing is masquerading as a treecat in one issue. That damn thing is frightening!

I love the star map of the Honorverse.

chin up Citha.

if you read the topic listed in the above link you will see there have been a couple of offers for a TV show.

still very early days. still hopefully a lot of the prelim work that evergreen did will be able to RFC to pass on to whoever next takes up the challenge.

so fingers crossed you will still get your visuals

There was some major discussion (about 90% negative) on the look of Nimitz in the comics and in the test footage done by Evergreen.

It's good news then - the movie was going to play holy hell with the imagery in your head - if what you have was inspired by the books in any way.

Only 90 %? I'm surprised there isn't total agreement that that fake treecat in one issue is ab-so-lute-ly hideous! In fact, it ruins many a scene in my head. Like when crew members see Nimitz for the first time and want to bring him celery. When the kids on Grayson want to play hide-n-seek, I can only imagine them wanting to hide (NO SEEK) in fear of that thing. And regarding the settlers and Stephanie Harrington bonding with a treecat, if the 'cat looked like the thing in that one issue, I can imagine a shoot first, bond never mentality. And it also ruins the scene of the Brotherhood charging inside Protector's Palace. Upon seeing an animal like that, how could anyone not want to target it first? After one has somehow recovered from any immobilization from so much gripped terror!

Seriously, the thing looks like a cross between a MAlign bred animal of genetic material from a treecat and an 'alien' of Sigourney Weaver fame. Ah, a new species... a treecalien!

As I said at the time, a treecat should not make a father have an overwhelming instinctive reaction to aim and pull both shotgun triggers every time he sees it. The early Evergreen/comic imagery was just too "satan spawned", for lack of a better word, for the description of the tree cat in the books. No one, EVER, was going to see that and say "what an adorable pet" and ignore it. No the first pulsar dart (or 10) would always go into the tree cat just to be sure.
