When you create the first university on a planet it is the ONLY university on the planet. So I suspect the University of Manticore is what they will call it.

Tell you what Johnathan, I'll split the difference with you and give you the former, but the latter -- the capturing of Prince Adrian -- turned out to be the biggest setup in all the series! (Even if it wasn't planned.) The Peeps would have been much better off NOT to have captured Prince Adrian. What did they gain out of it? What did they lose out of it? sniff sniff SETUP! Warfare is a setup tangling with a Salamander. You simply don't bring a Peep to a Salamander fight. The Peep academy teaches tactics from Cliff Notes! lol P.S. My chips are on Jennifer Bellefeuille attending University in the Suarez system. She was a peep above the rest. lol Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

Where were the Mesan genetic lines educated? And now?

most of the alpha's are going to have been educated in Solly uni's
no way are they going to let them anywhere near Manty space. even if no one could possible know their importance to the grand plan. Andermani is pos i suppose, but given that they will most likely have jobs where they deal with solly bureaucrats who will not believe a non-solly degree worth the photon it uses. (paper it is written on if you are a dinosaur and prefer these things in hard copy) |

Obviously home schooled. It wouldn't do to have them associate with lesser beings when they were young and impressionable. Other than that, they were educated along with the general population, but presumably were provided funds and resources to attend the top schools available (on and off planet.) .

Perhaps not as obvious as you may think, Harold. I've found that most people have an inaccurate view of the concept of home schooling. There are rules and regulations, like turning in a record of attendance and number of hours, etc. because you must teach at least nine months of the year. Normally a parent who is preparing to home school consults with a particular school in her area for courses, etc. They must file a notice of intent. (NOI) Even though a student is home schooled, he/she still must pass annual standardized tests. You can't allow parents to pass/fail a student and hand out degrees. I suppose if the MAlign doesn't ultimately care about employability, placeability in the private sector apart from Darius it wouldn't matter. But I don't think that's the case. The thing about Home Schooling is that while you are required to teach certain things, there is no restriction on what else you choose to teach -- Forex, prayer is not prohibited to home schoolers. If you want to avoid "contamination" by political correctness and ideas about racial/ethinic equality -- a definite anathema to genetic superiority believers -- then home schooling is about your only option; especially for a "sleeper" family. .

You aren't required to teach certain things. You are only required to pass annual standardized tests. The main point here, is that in the end the MAlign needs its lines, certainly Alpha lines, to be soluble in society. They can't place them in key positions without accredited education from reputable sources. Regardless of how much innate intellect they might actually have. And if they have to go by the book re education, that might be a source of paper trail. Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. IOW, you are required to teach the material to be tested. What is taught beyond the material required to pass the tests is of no concern to the authorities.
You must have missed the other point I made that Alpha Lines, especially sleeper lines, would merge with the general populace for higher education. Home schooling would only be required while the children were most impressionable -- roughly through elementary grades. Once the basic "you're genetically superior but you can't tell anyone" indoctrination is complete, they can be turned loose to "assimilate" into the general population. .
