FYI: AMAZON USA sold me my Kindle version at $2.99 since I had already bought the dead-tree version. So if that is where you bought your 'heavy' edition, check that for the ebook version. :)

My dead tree version arrived on time but it's so thick that it's awkward to read while lying on the couch in the living room. So I bought the $2.99 ebook as well. Reading the ebook on my iPad Mini is so much easier than reading the dead tree version.

Also, did we really need a 100 page glossary and list of characters at the back of the book. Why not just release that as a free ebook/pdf.

Good point, when it's that big, it's unwieldly (besides, the publishers will save paper.)

Reminds me of an inverse problem of some of the other books Amazon has had lately - It seems there is a trend for publishers to take newer writer's works and break them into 3 pieces and give the first away to entice readers. Unfortunately, all 3 tend to be hollow books, with odd endings, and 1/2 of the second and third books tend to be wasted introductions, with recaps of what happened in the earlier parts of the story, followed by a truncated novella.

OCTOBER 14 - My Amazon purchased dead tree version arrived yesterday, and when I look on the site - Amazon is offering the Kindle Version for $2.99 (Because I bought the dead tree) I looked after Charybdis originally posted his about luck in September and missed that opportunity - I do not know how long this will last as it's usually $14.99 for the Kindle Version.

Finally - my dead tree has been chopped, pulped, scrawled on & dispatched :-)

It might even arrive in time for the weekend! :D

If a dead tree falls in the middle of the forest, will it still be as fun to read as Dave Weber's books??
