I am getting concerned about Merlin. I think Caleb is too. Merlin seems almost relish doing these assassinations. I hope in the end he doesn't go rogue. He didn't want Nimue with him. I'm wondering if deep down inside he feels he might and one jf the reasons he created Nimue. To stop him if that happens. I really like Nerlin but sometimes he scares me. I sure would hate for him to have to be sestroyed. He needs to let Nimue have rest of her memories. I think she could help balance him.

I think Merlin will be ok. After all, the people he is killing under his Mab persona are inquisitors and their closest henchmen. IE, the people most responsible for the atrocities and bloodshed in Siddarmark. Much of which Merlin has witnessed via SNARC. So I can understand and forgive him for being eager to do away with some of the people responsible.

As for his conscience, I think it is also intact. I remember a few books ago (think it was MTaT) where he was feeling extremely guilty because he had to kill some enemy soldiers. Mind you, in this case the soldiers he was killing were normal, everyday guys just trying to do their duty. But I think it was telling how different his reaction was to killing them as opposed to killing inquisitors.

Merlin is in better order now than he was prior to his conversation with Nahrman at the end of MTAT.

I agree. If he was going rogue, it would have already happened, given everything that's happened so far.

As I keep pointing out, the mythology is very clear. In the Arthurian legend, Nimue seals Merlin in his cave for a thousand years, a period of time that must be soon to end in our world.

There is not so much a shot gun on the wall as a classical atomic cannon. Or perhaps a Dora.

Actually, I thought getting to take out some of the worst of the inquisitors was probably very cathartic for him. There is still nobody in the world (that we know of, except the new Nimue) that has the remotest chance against him in combat, which is part of what distresses him about killing those that cross his path in a conventional battle, especially against soldiers or worse, civilians, that are just doing their job. But at least with these inquisitors he gets to work off some of his corrosive rage and hate, against the most deserving targets he is going to find, short of the Grand Inquisitor himself! If he can get it out and then let go of it, that will probably help him a lot mentally.

I do remember Merlins talk with Narhman. I remember he said he didn't want to be like. Clyntahn. I am glad he has Nimue. I think she is good for him. But I think he treats her like a kid so ketones. I'm sure they are going to conflict on something's.Merli n needs to show her more respect. I know he wants to protect her. But Nimue is more than able to fend for herself.. Will be Interestiing to see how everything plays out

If anything that's more dangerous to his mental health. Killing and enjoying it? Shudder.

This.
Destroying those Inquisitors that go, "above and beyond," so to speak in their foulness is one thing (although it is a departure from his anti-assassination stance, which may also be something to be concerned about), but if he actually comes to enjoy the killing? This way lies madness.

I got the Shotgun reference, what's a Dora? My first thought was Lazarus Long's spaceship but I didn't really think that was an appropriate reference, since he had kept Dora somewhat childlike to facilitate easy transfer of her loyalty to his sisters.
