Possible spoiler!

Something struck me reading LAMA/HFQ about the steadingly increasing use of rockets.

Nobody seems concerned about attracking the attention of the bombardment system with the use of rockets.

This might be an oversight but if not it seems to me a source of enourmous possibility's. As with the use of pneumatics for an alternative to an electrical assembly line the rocket engine or possible the yet-engine might serve as a non electrical alternative for inernal combustion or electrical engines.

Or am I missing soething important here?

IMO the rockets used so far would likely be seen as "just fire" by the sensors of the Orbital System.

You _can_ run gas turbines without electrical controls. I wouldn't willingly operate anything with a working fluid hotter than 600# steam that way, but it should be doable in principle.

The problem is sensors: without knowing what's going on inside it's way too easy to push it over the edge, and the vicinity of a gas turbine that's disassembling itself is markedly unhealthy. Pneumatic thermometers are slow to respond and notably difficult to calibrate. Mechanical tachometers don't do well at really high RPM. And so on.

Rocketry is actually easier - unguided rockets are a no-brainer, since even quite complex engines can be built with no electrical systems at all. V2-grade minimally-guided vehicles can be built using pneumatics, although weight becomes an issue pretty fast. Beyond that, response times become an issue. And big unguided rockets are of rather little use, when it comes down to it.

Would the low voltages developed by thermocouples be detectable by the OBS?
Could you "gear down" a tachometer to a reasonable rate to measure high RPM?
Instrumentation operates at relatively low voltages with a fairly standard 4 - 20mA and 3 15 psi outputs and controls
Would anything of a typical pre-computer industrial system attract the attention of the OBS?
Even though there might be some resistance to the breach of one of the Proscriptions.
