I'll start off this thread by saying great book loved it good naval battles scenes and some nice mainland battles.

Would of liked to have seen more land battles in depth but hey can't complain .

Sets things up for what I guess will be a riveting last book in the series.

I will add that the scene with Stefyny in Camp Chihiro incredibly moving. That was only the second time a work of art brought me to tears. The other time was listening to Moonlight Sonata while reminiscing about my grandmother.

One suspects that Stefyny will play a larger role in the stories moving forward. I wonder if she stays in Corisande? She has quite a bit in common with Daivyn.

well they said all the family was going to tellesburg. if that plan was changed and it was last discussed long before the end of the book then i would have expected at least a couple of lines about it.

even if it was. "irys liked them so much she helped set up in machyr" kind of thing

Was it just me or did any one else get a certain bit of satisfaction with the way the Bishop Militant had his head blown off only after he putting his execution orders in writing?

Actually I'm not sure that it really is one, but caution, caution.
So for those of you who have read it. Interesting final line is it not? Our author does have a way of ending books with quiet little discussion in the night.

Cheers;

Honestly, this and the Dohlar segments (and the associated segments with Yairley) were the most interesting parts of the HFQ to me. Most of the land war could have been dropped or reduced to small, one page infodumps here and there and not hurt the quality of the books.

Although some of the parts where the AoG surrendering their Camps without a fight were amusing. I especially liked the one where the one officer got the Inquisitor to effectively sign his own death warrant.

Oh, and Rayno has finally figured out that he's dealing with actual "demons". Pity that we didn't get to see his reaction to the Mab attack on that one convoy where there should have been EYEWITNESS TESTIMONY to the fact that yes, Mab IS a demon!

I admit to being ready to beat the next book about RFC immediately.

this is the second time in a row that he's left us with such a cliffhanger.

once more and i will not be responsible for what happens

The ending annoyed me because now we have to get it in snippets. I've been waiting for that convo to happen for a while now!

The land battles were boring honestly. Arty, arty, arty. Yay.

Sea battles are my favorite and we keep losing them.

I didn't see the Stephanie scene coming (spelling of her name I don't remember), nor do I see the point? Very odd.

The point is the same as the reason Nahrmann flagged it for attention.

It's an early sign of cracks in the Inquisition's certainty and morale.

But it is not really a cliffhanger this time. I mean, we are fairly certain what Merlin is getting ready to talk to him about. And we have a good idea how he is going to react. Now LAMA, that really was a cliffhanger. We didn't know where that conversation was going.
