The store will open in 3 hours. Then I'll find out if they were right.

They were right - I just got it.

Tousand thanks for mentioning the German Distributor. Just called my bookstore. I can pick mine up tomorrow. :)

Also where are you from?

Note for Canadians: 5 Chapters stores are showing stock now. None within 800km of me, however.

I got mine from Chapters. Ordered online, so I got the online price, delivered to a local store so I could pick it up whenever convenient, which I did. For other books it seems to take 4 days to get it in store, for this one, 8 months  .

Based on my experience with LAMA, I expect the Kindle version of HFQ to be available at 0001 Eastern time zone time next Tuesday. Which means for me I can download it at 2301 Central time zone on 12 Oct (and those lucky individuals of dubious ancestry on the West Coast can get it at 2101 on 12 Oct). I don't want to think what time the surfer dudes in Hawaii get to start reading it. Five days and a wakeup. :P

When I hear that 01:00 wake up call and recall my own days working for others <<who rarely showed appreciation> unlike an Ehdwyrd Howsmyn>... I am so glad that I decided to live below my means and retire early. 8-)
I had to put in the early mornings, the late nights, the long commutes and living out of a suitcase so... I have empathy for all circumstances but I also got by with the Honda rather than the Acura as an example...
So now I can afford to do volunteer work, serve on boards of nonprofits that are doing things that I think important, do some fishing, hiking, bike riding, photography, reading and trying my clumsy hand at writing.

About 100 hours till 00:01 Oct 13 but who is counting? ;)

Just my two cents

Nay nay I get up at 0100 every morning to go to work.[/quote]

“Know the rules well, so you can break them effectively.”

― Dalai Lama XIV

I walked into an independent book store in Northampton MA yesterday and saw the above on a 'bumper sticker' on the way in. I checked the SciFi section and saw that they stocked some Tor titles so I asked if they might have an unopened box in the back room and was first told that the publisher were very strict about the release date... I quoted the Dalai Lama and then was told that they did not have the book in stock but that they would order for me. :?

00:01 is 12 hours and six minutes from now...

Just my two cents

HFQ is 11 hours and 28 minutes and counting down.

Am sitting in B&N right now... Hard copies haven't yet shown up on store inventory (Groan).

They have a coffee shop  don't they????
Maybe if Don looks disreputable or nervous, they will open the box early  More likely they will be like the shop where I stopped in and feign ignorance ;)

I paid for my kindle copy in April but would have bought a hardbound copy yesterday had they let me...
