Nah, they're trying to re-write the real-world, not fictional worlds.
I'd guess either Alt!History or Time-travel.

Actually, it'd be both alt history and time travel.

If you want to see a really good story of that type, you might want to try "A Fresh Start" by rlfj. It's posted on storiesonline.net. WARNING, that site is an adult site, and the story does have some sexual content. However, that content is secondary to what I think is a good, well-written story.

Actually fortnight is a better unit, surprised that dw didn't switch to the universal league, stone, fortnight unit system for safehold. Then again a fortnight on safe hold would half the period of a lunar revolution - which has not been defined to my knowledge.

14 days and counting down to HFQ...

I know that with LAMA, B&N had it available upon request a couple of days early. What I don't know is if this was actually policy or if I just managed to find an accomodating manager who slipped me the book.

I also found "Call to Arms" to download almost three weeks before October 6 release date for printed version.

I don't have any idea of the rhyme or reason of how all of this works out.

One way or the other, we're almost there. :D

The Rat Bastards!

The place I have the book pre-ordered still has the 1st October release date, but they've added a 5-10 work day delivery time.

As is my habit I check on David's books regularly and I noticed this morning that ONE store in the company was showing on hand quantity of HFQ! Now I'm not sure if this is accurate or not but if you are in the vicinity of the B&N at Northgate Mall in Seattle, WA you might want to give them a ring and see if they can put their hands on it. :D and if you do I was a snippet finders fee!! lol

That one will be 'geographically impossible' for me as Florida to Washington state would probably have me in a sardine seat at FL300+ over the Great Plains when someone says 'oops!' Such would tend to diminish my overall satisfaction of life! :?

So... is this "Oops" as in the case of Citizen Commander Shannon Foraker when the 'invitation' came to present themselves to the SS Commissioner?

Naaah, Ima wait for the book to come out and then sit back in a real comfortable chair with good snacks and drinks at hand and read it nonstop! 3 five-days and counting!

Well, if we are playing the time travel game, I would like to go back before the Washington Naval treaty put the squash on battleship development during the 1920s. Lets see what happens. And yes, I realize that EVENTUALLY carrier aircraft are going to make the battleship obsolete no matter what. I just wonder what happens if the battleship were free to develop without treaty considerations during the 30s....

Thorium reactors would probably be a thing by now to power them / refuel off the beach anywhere in the world lol!

Nah, since the Foraker 'Oops' is an action of intent and the 'too-early listing' would probably be an act of 'fat finger' keyboarding! In the first the overkill was entirely justified but the second is in the line of 'failures' where there are too many sharing the blame.

Now if Tor or Jeff Bezos were to say 'Oops' and push the release back another month, THAT would call for Foraker-style excess INDEED!

Delay the release by a month!!???!! Off with his head!!

I checked out the "Look inside" feature with little joy. No free sample option yet and I have discovered that I read on Kindle or dead tree version with high degree of satisfaction and comprehension... on the screen of my laptop, not so much.

14 days and the odd number of hours; but who is counting?

Hold on a second!

How did Underhill get involved in this? and are those fay Seelie or Unseelie?

Those next two weeks could go on for a long, long time if we aren't very careful.
