When someone is talking nonsense, i tend to object.

HB of CJ wrote:You also walk a fine line between discussing the argument and making it personal.

Not really. If i made it personal, there would be not the slightest question about it.

HB of CJ wrote:Being from Sweden, did you enjoy your 2 years of military service? Do they still have that?

Sweden have never had 2 years of military service.

Up until a few years ago general conscription (which in the last decade wasn´t nearly so "general" as before) was how it worked.

Sadly however the usual rightwing chickenhawks pushed through a "professional military" change, something that so far, just as i and many with me had predicted has not improved anything, quite the opposite.

Not so easy to recruit any longer when they don´t have a large number of previous conscripts.

HB of CJ wrote: I for one did not enjoy what I had to do. Very non pleasant infact. But we both did it?

That´s a pity for you, but unlike my father and elder brothers, no, i have not done military service, as i was tested for it in the early 90s in the middle of the largescale cutbacks after the cold war died, at that point even the military itself had no clue exactly how many conscripts they were going to train per year thereafter.

So, combined with the fact that i´m chronically ill since i was 10, i was given a "frisedel" and a card with phonenumbers and information if i wanted to come back at a later time.

HB of CJ wrote:Yous seem determined to make your own points the only points.

That is incorrect. I´m trying to push FACTS, against prejudice and pure opinion in this case.

Consider the fact that my best friend since age 4 usually votes rightwing while i vote leftwing, that should tell you how dreadfully stuck i am with "my points".

That is, not really at all. I am in fact far more likely to argue something against my own opinion just because someone tried to push opinions contrary to facts, than i am to agree, no matter if i personally agreed with that opinion.

HB of CJ wrote:Apparently you are quite liberal.

Hardly. I´m "quite socialist". OTOH, i´m also rather conservative and liberal, all depending on exact issue.

HB of CJ wrote: We seem to live and function in totally different worlds.

And boy am i happy i don´t live in your world!

HB of CJ wrote:Please have a nice day and you and I will probably never agree on anything ...

Oh but we already have. Even if you fail to remember, i do. But you see, that don´t matter to me, because unless you´re an utter and complete idiot, and you´re not, then i read and respond to whatever you write as is, each time, with little or no regard to what you may have written or not before.

HB of CJ wrote:But ... please do not spend so much time trying to make yourself always correct. It don't work.

Actually, as long as i´m more right than wrong, oh yes it certainly works. And i never reply unless i´m reasonably sure that i AM correct in what i write.

It´s now over 20 years since my middle brother concluded that there was no use arguing with me, because one way or another i ended up being right anyway.

That´s not true of course, but he has a bad habit of not thinking his arguments through, making it easy for me steamroll him.

Of course, unlike you, he didn´t try to keep pushing arguments already shot dead, crushed, obliterated and buried.

Come up with ACTUAL facts supporting your claims and MAYBE you will get anywhere.

In case you failed to notice, in this matter you are essentially overrun by both better arguments and a crapload of simple facts showing you to be so pathetically wrong that it becomes laughable when you still try to push the nonsense.

HB of CJ wrote:I for one have little time here on this forum. You more so.

Not really. It´s more a matter of fact that i type fast, and that language IS one of the few things i´ve trained seriously in.
