Spoilers (HIGHLIGHT FOR SPOILER) <I finally figured that part out>

 Especially if you look in the G's and review Hektor's new role ..... interesting note: Merlin's character page was omitted, coincidence or not?

The two you have in your spoiler, aren't even in the review... as in, their pages weren't included. Were you trolling us? 8-) 8-)

You need to look at the character section of the 'peak inside'

The information provided after the character name can be very interesting...

Spoiler (HIGHLIGHT)
Search for Earl Thirsk, but it will take you to Gardynr... sadly read some of the information after the list of his family (pg702); but before that read what our good boy Hektor is tasked with by viewing his character information (pg684)

Actually, the Amazon preview pages are not the same for everyone. At least they weren't the last time. And sometimes they change from day to day. So if someone says they can't see a specific page it's likely to be Amazon's fault.

I got the impression it has to do with how good an Amazon customer you have been.

Looking through the Character section in the back (well, searching for "HFQ"), I think the cover is explained. I made a new topic with a spoiler alert.

They do vary, but the list of characters can be opened if you do a search on a name you know, and lets you read several neighbouring pages that include names you didn't know you needed to look for ;)

Actually, I think it has to do more with whetting our appetites and getting us to buy the book in hardcover. I've managed to get to around a third of the book through this but have hit a brick wall where I only get random short stretches of the book after missing out on most of the last half. After all, wouldn't want you to read the entire book for free, right?

Incidentally, when will the maps become available and how does one access them?

And for me, the preview finished at pg 47 and skipped right to the character glossary

I got that as well when I logged out and tried to do it without Amazon knowing it was my account. Seems you have to log into Amazon.com to see the additional pages.

Amazon.co.uk is not even putting up preview text yet. Have not tried other countries, suspect it's the same of up to page 47 at best.

Did notice there is over 100 pages of glossary/people at the end of the book. Would like more detailed maps (fold out maps!) but meh, it's still good stuff.
