Hi Rose
Nice to see you here. He also has a cat-lizard - not sure if that is 'a good thing' to you or a source of deep misery and reprobation
RFC seems to have a thing for cats and how they regard humans as the perfect accessories...
RFC has an excellent grasp of the realities of the cat-human relationship. My Shitzus seem to think they are creations of RFC and or cats(lizards) since they think the whole family is only here for there amusement. |

Sharleyan is a BAMF. I have to admit I truly admired her handling of events post-assassination attempt--the one in Manchyr, not the on at Ste. Agtha's. I don't know if Thirsk will ever rise as magnificently to the occasion as Tom Theisman did, or if he'll even be given the opportunity to. Talk to me again after you've read Hell's Foundations Quiver, or the mini snippets. Anyway, I'm thrilled to be here, thoroughly enjoying my first romp through this world, and looking forward to read-through number two so I can stop going "but what's going to happen next??" and actually start putting together some more cogent, in-depth, critically thought out opinions on the sociopolitical landscape of this fascinating new world, which we all know is my favorite thing to do with any of RFC's works. Your enthusiasm is contagious. One of the things I enjoy most is seeing Merlin through other people's eyes. Pardon all of the following errors, but I'm working from memory here...the scene at Ste. Zherneou's--"springs from a fidelity you can't imagine. Are you the second string to her bow?" Earl Corin at the rescue from Talkyra--"the man's got style!" And later, the head of Daivyn's security detail--"Of course he is! Whole point of the exercise." I recently came across a quote for the first time that I'm rather fond of.

Maybe. Or maybe used as a conduit to feed misinformation...or maybe just eased out of her job into someting less sensitive. She comes off as a tragic figure. Don When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

No, no she doesn't come off as tragic. She is a friggin psychopath that the world would be better off without. She was praying for her brother AFTER knowing he had just killed her cousin, a cousin that she was as close to as a brother... and then decided to double down on the treason she was involved with. She betrayed her country, her friends, and even her family... Now, I will give you the point that they could USE her to damage the CoGA... BEFORE executing her. |

Does conviction not merit something more than being called a pyschopath? Strong conviction and strong faith even when those convictions and faith are not shared are worthy of recognition and respect. Otherwise its oh so easy to demonize those that disagree and hold those disagreement powerfully. Especially in times of war.

Uh, no they don't merit respect. She KNOWS her brother just killed himself, a cousin that was raised WITH HER as a brother, and God only knows how many other people. Trying to justify actions like that isn't conviction, it is a mental illness. That is like saying "respect the suicide bombers" as they blow up busloads of kids. |
