I would like to see the Vicarate rise up against him. Following the death of Vicar Duchairn (sorry, but Clyntahn is going to kill Duchairn) Grand Vicar Eric summons Clyntahn to address the Council of Vicars, then has him arrested. When the Charisians arrive at the city gates, Eric himself goes out to parley with them, and informs them that Vicar Clyntahn died under the question 2 days ago. Vicar Magwair and Vicar Traynair are currently in the dungeons awaiting trial for complicity in murder and gross incompetence.
Nynian throws a colossal fit because she's been robbed of the opportunity to dance in Clyntahn's blood. Then the temple begins to hum and a column of light bursts forth from the icon of the scepter atop the basilica... |

I've wondered about that. Everyone has been ignoring and dismissing the Grand Vicar. That may be right, or it may be like leaving a hobbit out of your calculations.
If he gets a courage transplant, or realizes the situation is desperate, or has a pillow girl whisper dreams of greatness in his ear, who's going to openly defy him? He's also supposed to be a spellbinding public speaker. |

Savonarola was no villain - fanatic, yes, misguided, yes, but DEFINITELY not evil. Deeper study is recommended. As for the rest of the argument and the Stalin reference, I agree completely. Stalin was far more capable at his trade than Hitler, an alternative suggested by another poster. |

How the Big Bastard of the Series Should Snuff It:
If the opportunity presents itself or can be arranged somehow, just kill him. If he's captured after the inevitable surrender, put him on trial, give him the benefit of clergy, if he so desires, and then send him to the headsman. In any case, I strongly oppose any notion of torturing him, either physically or mentally. It would serve no purpose, and torture for its own sake is the province of sadistic psychopaths. I wouldn't hold a little gloating against anyone who does off him, it would be a cathartic experience and a way to release so much pent-up hatred, but definitely no senseless torture. Just my two cents. ------------------------------------------------------
There is no problem so complex that it cannot be solved through the judicious application of high-power explosives. |

I agree. Frankly, it's more important to do what is needed cleanly without uneccessary fuss or mess than to get bogged down with torture and surrender the high moral ground. Don When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

Call me a sentimentalist, but staked over bed of fire ants seems a nice pleasant way to end his tenure.

For me, I'm inclined to say that he will die. As some have said, he's likely gonna have a stroke/heart attack as apart of a reaction to something and that's something I'd like to see. But of course, there's two other versions I'd rather see, both equally desirable:
1. Duchairn finding some way to set him up to die that doesn't lead back to him/looks like a normal death to the Pasqualites, as well as in a way that doesn't conflict with his rebirth in rediscovering the Holy Writ. 2. Merlin/Captain Chwaeriau getting him done in some fashion, preferably after having a little 'talk' with him in the presence of the Inner Circle. |

He should be trapped in his luxury apartments in the ruble of a collapsed temple completely unharmed with a tiny trickle of water and no food or company until he dies of starvation or goes mad and kills his self after ghost after ghost of every many woman and child he killed visits him in his dreams.

While we discuss the possibility of his death, does anyone think he will try to emulate the nazis by going underground ?
Many sailed to south america. There was even one submarine captain that was accused to bringing Hitler with him to help him escape. The great inquisitor seems to me to be someone who would not fail to put an escape road in place beforhand. Same for his second in command. (I personnaly think that the power behind the throne has a contengency plan for his own life involving the great inquisitor demise...) Thoughts anyone ? Can I have a treecat RFC?
