When did you first come across David Weber?

My son was moving house, and I was helping. Found the first 4 Honor Harringtons when I was packing his books, borrowed them and never looked back.

Was browsing through the Sci-Fi/Fantsy section at my local Barnes & Noble years ago. War of Honor was brand new in Hardback and there was a display set up, featuring the paperbacks of the earlier books in the series. Figured out that On Basilisk Stationwas the first book in the series. But the real reason I picked it up and bought it was the blurb on the back of the paperback. It was brilliant. Here it is:


*Having made him look like a fool, she's been exiled to Basilisk Station in disgrace and set up for ruin by a superior who hates her.
*Her demoralized crew blames her for their ship's humiliating posting to an out-of-the-way picket station.
*The aborigines of the system's only habitable planet are smoking homicide-inducing hallucinogens.

Once I read this I knew I had to read the book. And once I read OBS I was hooked.

I mentioned on a forum that i was currently out of books to read, and someone i knew from online Starcraft gaming suggested looking at 1st and 2nd Honorverse books that were available in the Baen free library.

And obviously, as someone who uses an online callsign of Twoflowers simply MUST have good or at least decent tase in books, i went for a look.
