It's a soft release which means that Tor is not holding us to the 10/13 date and we can display & sell them the moment we open a box with them in it.

I'll keep checking availability and post which stores show stock.

I called. The person I spoke to disavowed any possibility that their store had any copies of HFQ.

:-(

As is my habit I check on David's books regularly and I noticed this morning that ONE store in the company was showing on hand quantity of HFQ! Now I'm not sure if this is accurate or not but if you are in the vicinity of the B&N at Northgate Mall in Seattle, WA you might want to give them a ring and see if they can put their hands on it. :D and if you do I was a snippet finders fee!! lol

Is the next forecast to be long? And I was also wondering how long you guys think this series will last. I checked one of David's old Q and A's, it was from years ago, and he says the series would be like nine or ten books long. I think it could go on for longer.
I'm very jealous all you guys will be able to buy this book right away, though. I live in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and you can't buy any of David's books in the main bookstores. You can only buy them from Forbidden Planet second hand.

I ordered from Amazon on January 10. Amazon (Canada) still has no delivery date estimate. Just shows Oct 13 as release date.

As it is possible for employees to become disgruntled, I believe it is critical to find ways to keep them gruntled.

I tend to pick up Safehold books in dead tree format from a local B&N due to being weak-willed. It's much cheaper to order from Amazon or get the Kindle version, but B&N has always had the book available for purchase anywhere from 5-10 days before the official date.

I've never seen it out nearly a month in advance, though. If they had print production ready and shipping out to stores that early then why delay the shelf date? A dollar today is always better than a dollar tomorrow.

I pre-ordered Kindle version months ago and when checking to confirm order shipment date, I noticed that the dead tree version is only a buck or two more so, I may order that too.
I will say that reading on Kindle with X-Ray and Wikipedia plus dictionary has become addictive and at times while reading a hard bound I find my self touching a word trying to find more information.

Any way, the Kindle version will get to me much quicker than the UPS truck and the nearest B&N is miles away.

Oh by the way:
"I live in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and you can't buy any of David's books in the main bookstores. You can only buy them from Forbidden Planet second hand."

You can buy new from Amazon.Com and have it delivered to your house almost as quickly as it would come to me in north east Connecticut, USA.

Tick Tock... the count down continues

Charlie
