Does anibody think that the fall of the inquisition, wich will be seen with trials (like Nuremberg trials for the nazy), will be like the dismentellemnt of the KGB when they downsided there human capacity ?
I fear we will see an emergence a blackmail, threats, kidnappings, murders, with the creation of crime like syndicates. For this creations, they already have : - covert operations trainning. - cryptography. - network. - funds. (I think the inquisition load it's pockets first so it won't be pennyless). - informations. What do you think ? Can I have a treecat RFC?

Insightful.
Such a group in Safehold would be facing a genuinely hostile government, unlike the post-USSR criminals. It would be a government used to tracking Inquisition activity with SNARCs. |

I think that in those areas controlled by the alliance, the inquisition is going to be history. In fact that is already estabished fact in the EOC. In Siddarmark, the process will be ongoing as allied armies advance.
In loyalist countries, the inquisition will function as it always has, at least for the short to intermediate term future. Don When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

It all depends on what happens when the church realizes they can't win. Either they reform (unlikely, the Gbaba deciding to give everyone kittens and unicorns is more probable) or the Inquisition becomes much bigger and cracks down on people far more (Sarkyn, for example). However, as official Imperial policy is "Kill all Inquisitors On Sight", it may be a bit difficult for the Inquisition to continue on. |

The last point is important. When the KGB downsized, the former agents were not under threat of execution. So they were able to turn their talents to the private sector or to crime. Any former members of the Inquisition most certainly are going to be under threat of execution. Their primary concern is going to be hiding out under false identities. I think a better historical parallel is going to be how the surviving members of the Nazi party/SS fled Germany at the end of World War II. |

I seem to remember at Hector/Irys first meeting, that our favorite lieutnant asked to the survivors among a group of soldiers if the man who killed their officer is an inquisitor.
"He is a member of the inquisition, but can you confirm that he is also an inquisitor?" Death on capture is only for inquisitors. But many of the inquisition employees would still want to go with a "business as usual" policy. Threats, blackmails etc... Would the empire laws change for them ? I don't see the emperor/emperess aplying a pre-emptive strike. More like the usual "don't sin, or you will be punished". Wich would let them time to go underground. As for the snarks, there is a limit to the number of them you could plant on people. Didn't the minister of finance (can't remember the spelling), worried about spies inside his office ? What about this undercover agents ? They would like something else to do... Can I have a treecat RFC?
