We don't even have a release date for the next book yet (my wife's been asking) and the only hint we have gotten from the next book is the first friggin line. So stop whining, you'll have the full book in a couple of months.

That said, I more concerned about RFC than I am about HFQ. HFQ is finished, it only awaits publication at this point. RFC's health and Sharon's have both been sketchy for years.

(And I'm holding firm to my prediction that Clyntahn will drop dead of sheer outrage from a Charisian victory. It's not unbelievable, given his lifestyle.)

And how about Patrick Rothfus? We don't even know if he has started writing book 3 yet!

<sighs>

Don't remind me. If ever we had an unfinished symphony!

I spoke with David at the National Book Festival today in Washington DC and got the impression that we'll see at least one more snippet. But he DID emphasize that he was crazy busy right now... See http://forums.davidweber.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=7349 please for additional info.

Well, Praise God that MWW appears to be 'not bored!' :P

As of this Saturday, 09/12, we will have 3 Five-Day Fortnights for the grand unveiling of Hell's Foundations Quiver (HFQ), only 30 days, a mere bagatelle! I am sure that my fellow denizens of this forum have ample supply of intestinal fortitude to await the event without more whining for an intermezzo of a snippet. We Are STRONGER for the wait, we know that ... (whimper) ... OK, just fooling myself, must press on regardless! :?

On a different note, TODAY is the 14th Anniversary of that horrible event of 09/11/2001! No way of knowing how many of those who died then or since as a results of that attack were some of David's fans, but I am sure that there were at least some! PLEASE fly the FLAG in honor of those who were lost! Remember that 'THE FLAG' does not have to be of the USA, as there were many different nationals who died! One in particular that I will be remembering is Col. Cyril (Rick) Rescorla, scion of Cornwall, England, who later served in some of the hottest action in Vietnam as a US Army 2nd Lt. His actions at 09/11 in constantly saving his co-workers of Morgan Stanley and others reflects TOTAL HEROISM!

Pride & Sadness - They will NOT be forgot! I would be proud if I could, in that (Heinlein Space Cadet) military tradition, answer the roll call with that salute to our honored dead, "I answer for him!"

That horrible day was in my mind all day today. My former boss, Canadian Bernard Mascarenhas, died along with over 200 of his Marsh and McLennan co-workers in WT1, as well as 23 other Canadians and over 3000 other innocents.

Having worked for Marsh for a few years in Australia, let me tell you that we ALWAYS remembered our fallen colleagues on the anniversary.

Thank you for that.

For the information of the readers of this forum, the US Army War College Class of 2002 (who watched in horror the 2nd plane hit the World Trade Center on their seminar TVs) honored Col Rescorla's service on 9/11/2001 and with the 1st Battalion 7th Cavalry Regiment at Landing Zone X-Ray (see Mel Gibson's movie adaptation of LTG Hal Moore's "We Were Soldiers Once ... and Young"). It is one of Rick Reeves four prints that comprised the Army War College's Centennial Class (2001-2002) gift back to of the Army War College's centennial class. A copy of the print can be found at the following URL: http://www.militaryartshop.com/prints/reeves/weweresoldiers.jpg
I was lucky enough to have my copy of the print signed by both Mr. Reeves who composed the original painting and Mr. Galloway who co-authored the book.

Am I the only one to find it rather "Karmic" that a crane belonging to the Bin Laden family has collapsed (apparently falling over backwards) in Mecca on this anniversary?

I suppose that you could call it a "Meccanical failure"

USMA74 - Are you aware of the Glee Club's "Stand Ye Steady" [2005] choral album? The lead song "Stand Ye Steady" is to the music of "Men of Harlech" but the lyrics are rewritten to commemorate the attack of 09/11. It has a lot of good music including the "We Were Soldiers ..." music "Mansions of the Lord" and I was happy to buy it from Apple's iTunes once I found it!
