I admit when it first came out I was unhappy as it was a bit too much Heirs of Empire but with some twists but it has grown from there and is now one of his best series.

still waiting impatiently for the sequel to Path of the Fury, the rewrite and expansion into In Fury Born just made me more impatient

As a matter of fact, I've wondered about that for a while. When Mr Weber wrote Heirs of the Empire, did he perhaps think 'what a wonderful concept, let's write something similar and give it some flesh'?

Not that I'm complaining, mind you. Personally, I think Safehold really expresses his skills and talent as a writer even more so than the Honorverse.

probably, it is a setting filled with so many options.

I can see at least 3 different directions he could have taken that basic premise, i'm sure others can see more.

...wait a minute. The Siddarmarkian Civil War is already destroying my soul, are you telling me it gets worse??

*looks worriedly at tissue stocks* Good thing I'm not planning an Honorverse re-read for awhile....

There will be much crying. RFC gets kickbacks from the tissue companies.

I didn't think it was *THAT* bad. At least not once LAMA actually came out and we could find out what happened. To me the worst part was the snippeting phase of LAMA. Cause RFC posted a cliff-hanger snippet about Hector. And then refused to elaborate any further. We had to wait months to find out his fate... :(

You know that maikel staynair is already married (he is the bishop not the admiral right?), you are required to be married to become a bishop.

roseandheather,

Welcome! I've wondered why you weren't here, and now you are!

I look forward to your progress thru the narrative, and your observations!

Now now Brigade, don't toy with poor Rose's feelings like that.

Rose, don't pay attention. Maikel's been widowed these past ten years and more.
