He is spending so much time in VR I am sure that like OWLs excellerated development from VR time with him that he is rebuilding his own personality algorithm - remember he was one of the greatest at the game - wouldn't be surprised if there is an owl/Nahrmahn coup of the cave eventually

Just how sensitive are the Rakurai electricity sensors? I am wondering if they could pick up the fields from a small motor-generator set?

You have a battery driving a DC motor which turns an AC generator which powers a rectifier which charges the battery. I am not suggesting some sort of perpetual motion, but say there was an AOG target that you needed to take out, but didn't want Clinton to be able to say that it was Shan-Wei who did it (yeah, I know, he'll say it anyway). So you hide your device in a wagon, park the wagon at your target with a timer of some sort, the timer winds down, a connection is made, electricity flows and BLOOIE! the Rakurai takes out your target.

We've discussed this here before. The big reason Merlin won't do it is because the Rakurai is designed to take out cities and entire continents. There will be too many innocent victims, and Merlin just won't do that. The same reason he won't nuke the Temple.

The other reason that gets pointed out is that turning on the OBS might jolt other things out of hibernation that could ruin the good guys's entire day.

Having learned what's under the Temple, I think this ties in with the OBS being activated in Merlin's mind. Merlin seems to now view both the OBS and the Temple Underground as the two greatest threats to his plan of breaking the stasis that Langhorne and Bedard instituted.
