OMG! He's Lex Luthor in disguise!

I have always said that Donald Trump's only talent was making small fortunes out of large ones. Now I'll have to add "stepping on his dick on national TV".

He is performing somewhat of a public service by throwing verboten subjects out into the fray.

But what if he pulls off a "Man Of The Year" (Robin Williams) and actually gets elected?

The negatives are too many to mention. But on the positive side he is a self made billionaire so he can't be completely stupid. (Though he enjoys playing that on TV)

Hillery Clinton Image compared to Trump. Only thing I don't like is his stand on gun control.

Both Democrats and Republicans through their insane free trade policy have ruined America's industrial might, Ross Perot was correct about that great sucking sound that has ruined our economy, Obama and his ilk are spending us into bankruptcy. Look to Greece for our future if we don't see real change soon.

Obama and his ilk are spending us into bankruptcy.

Last time USA was at a budget surplus was during Clinton.
Largest deficit ever happened under Obama primarily because of GWBs less than great panic reaction to the financial crisis, a deficit that has since been cut down strongly.

Stupid obstructionism by republicans and the after effects of the burst bubble under GWB makes up most of the rest.

Both Democrats and Republicans through their insane free trade policy have ruined America's industrial might

That certainly helped.

In theory free trade is fantastic. And it can be implemented in such a way that the theoretical benefits can indeed be achieved in the real world.

However for the USA in practice so-called "free trade" has been disastrous. The problem is that that the so-called free trade treaties that the US signs are negotiated by the worst negotiators on the planet. Our negotiators seem to have the wrong mindset for the job. When negotiating free trade treaties they look for treaties that 1) maximize the gain for large corporations (both parties have been captured by the crony capitalists in the megacorps) and 2) an economic development opportunity for poor counties. Unfortunately for the USA most of the other countries all have excellent negotiators whose main goal is to maximize the gain for their countries GDP and employment rates (and their crony capitalists as well, it does seem to be a universal problem). Employment rates aren't even on our negotiators radar screens.

Ironically the USA does have some of the best negotiators on the planet. They just don't work for the government. If we truly want an effective free trade treaty that will help our economy we need to hire some of these folks (with top notch legal talent writing the contract to ensure we the people get what we pay for) to negotiate the next treaty. Oh and the first rule of negotiation 101, is always be prepared to walk away. Right Obama??????

So that money spent by President Obama on the American Recovery And Reinvestment Act-that was over half that debt- is all Bush's fault.

Novel concept.

Of course showing your blatant ignorance of the American Federal Budget actually works. Of course you have a much better understanding of it than I do of 5he Swedish process. But then I don't make comments on it do I.

FYI. Congress is much more resposible than the President. Which is why 94, 06 and 10 showed where trends changed. Vice 92 and 08.

00 really doesn't count as Congress didn't change and the Congress was replacing stockpiles of weapons that the previous president expended without replacing. Along with getting congress to pass another stupid act that was somewhat less stupid than President Obama's Highridge impersonation of an infrastructure project.

Good try though.

Have fun,

PS Funny how I have seen more road construction in 2 months this year than I saw in my entire trips in 09 and 10. Or that the size of government only started shrinking when the Republicans took control of the House in 10.

And that is why the voters are adamantly against giving the government more "stimulus" money to waste. Had they spent the money properly it could have provided the shot in the arm the economy needed. Instead they wasted it. Stupid of them to do it with something this high profile. They couldn't resist the quick $$$. It would have been smarter to play it straight with the stimulus $$$ and spend them maximizing the economy and wait to play their crony games with other money the public wasn't watching so closely.

It's a massive stretch to call him self made. He came from a multi-millionaire family, got handed all his early business opportunities based on that, and had the luxury of being able to have his corporations declare bankruptcy four times and then just keep on going with the family money.

The average person doesn't get to do that while they run off trying every get rich scheme they can think of with their army of economic advisers and lawyers until something works. I certainly wouldn't call him a self made man or take his current net worth as a sign of any special economic acumen. His primary talent seems to be spotlight grabbing.

Partially self made might be a better description. He started with a fortune and in spite of multiple bankruptcies used his business skills, self promotion skills and skills as manipulating the political system to make it into a huge fortune. He basically turned $40-200 million into $4-10 billion. So he does have some business skills at least at self enrichment.

However just to be clear I DO NOT like Donald Trump.

On the negative side

1. His personality

1a. He has an absolutely enormous ego and is desperate to be in front of the cameras as much as possible. So he does and says absolutely anything that will keep him there. Just imagine this personality trait as a president, he would propose all kinds of extremely controversial legislation just for the opportunity to grandstand in front of the cameras. And foreign policy... And military policy.... I can see this guy literally starting a war just to get more TV time.

1b. He enjoys humiliating those beneath him. And managed to turn this "lovely" personality trait into a top rated reality show.

1c. He viciously attacks and humiliated his enemies. This does have it's positive points but also turns minor enemies who could have been negotiated with into major enemies who will do anything to see you (and if president your country) destroyed.

1d. Trustworthiness on policy positions. He says things just to get attention. He may or may not actually believe any of them. While others may change their minds on individual items if you elect a moderate you'll get moderate policy proposals for the most part, if you elect a conservative you'll get conservative policy proposals for the most part. With him who knows what you will get?

1e. He believes in ME FIRST to an extraordinary level. And would use the presidency to turn his $10 billion into $100 billion. He has benefited many times in the past from crony capitalism and is a strong believer in it. While this is a problem with most presidents, in Trump's case he would bring 3rd world levels of kleptocracy to the USA.

2. He has no political background whatsoever. We saw the downside of this in the first 2 years of the Obama administration. Even many of Obama's allies admit that Obama made a lot of mistakes while learning on the job. And Obama had some experience, unlike the Donald who has none and thus would be expected to make many many more of these sorts of errors and with his personality....

3. Most of the people he has to work with in Washington hate him. Even most of those in his own party.

4. Does he truly have an understanding of the policy issues that a president will have to cope with? He is great at inflammatory soundbites but may or may not have an in depth understanding of anything other than how to get himself on TV.
