Read the books (and stories) in the order they were published is the best advice I can give. Pay limited attention to details in stories that were not written by David Weber, Eric Flint, SM Stirling, or Jane Lindskold.

Well, right now, that is the idea.
Read all the books. Read all the books in order. Read all the books that were written by Weber in the order that they were published. Read all the books, in the order they were published, that Weber worked on. I suppose I could just go to the publisher and try to read them based on the dates they have, but I guess I need to find out if all the books Weber worked on/wrote were all published by the same publisher. Full disclosure: I haven't read a word of Weber's books... ...I've just let Allyson Johnson read them all to me because reading requires more undivided attention than I can give it, especially when I am driving But that doesn't mean I'm not an enormous fan who is completely preoccupied with the desire to consume everything related to the Honorverse. |

The Aprilist in question is Senator Ninon Bourchier, as mentioned in Ch. 12 of Mission of Honor. |

Basically, go here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Weber#Honor_Harrington_series. Read everything in the "Honor Harrington series" and "Works related to the Honor Harrington series" subsections, in order of publication date. This will involve skipping back and forth between the main series and the side ones; for example, you should read the More Than Honor short story collection after In Enemy Hands. The exceptions are that you don't need to read the Stephanie Harrington young adult series or Zahn's Manticore Ascendant series to understand the 'main' story, as those are not directly tied to it. You can still read them, of course, but if so there's no particular order in which you have to do so. And, as kzt mentioned, some of the details of the stories in the anthologies that are not written by Weber are of... lower canonicity (and/or quality). Also note that you can (legally!) get free copies of everything up to Mission of Honor from this site: http://baencd.thefifthimperium.com/, which hosts images of the freely distributable CDs that were included with some of Baen's books. (You want the 'Mission of Honor CD'.) _______________________________________________________

Oh my...
Well then, I guess I don't have to leave the house for a while just to make a special trip to my library... I guess I just find myself trying to avoid that moment where you reach the end of a long series...and you feel lost and unsure of what to do with the rest of your life... ...thankfully, it looks like that is a lot further off than I thought it was...

snipped, but thanks Roseandheather.
Thanks, yes that was exactly who I meant. I kept thinking Nancy, and I knew that was wrong. Theemile, I realize Cachat was too young for the pre-coup Aprilist group; I just took the survivors as "underground and still working," sort of keeping their heads down and re-building. Mostly from the ends of the shorts, which Tiber hasn't read yet. I sort of viewed Usher as recruiting him into the group, along with the introduction to a classical film education, Bogey, and Casablanca, and thought the second short sort of confirmed it while leaving it deeply murky. Never anything explicit, just being part of Usher's "family." Of course, I am often mistaken. Rob |

You will find some timelines on Joe Buckley's site. If you lose the link, there is another on the FAQs page, as well as one on the Links page above. Also, a bit of authorial humor as his short blurb in the FAQ mixes several of his universes; for additional reading, try Baen's Free Library, or the CD that comes with hardcover main-story books.
