I was thinking of the police officer who defended himself from a man who assaulted a store owner a half hour before and began running at the small police officer who was forced to defend himself rather than staying where he was.

Death toll of this is still rising. Happy now gcomeau it was one of yours shot and killed this time. Last time it was a black who supported flying the Confederate flag run off the road by bros. Guess his black life did not matter, hugh?

Who the hell do you think "one of mine" is? What does that even mean?


And besides the website putting the stuff about the confederate flag in the article title, most likely as click bait, the actual news report doesn't say a damn thing about it. It says instead:

"Police said two men, 36-year-old Clement Dwight Cooper and 32-year-old Michael Antonio Long had been burglarizing the home when they were surprised by the residents returning home from work."

...

NBC4 asked if the family knew either of the suspects? “No we don’t I don’t know who they are.”

NBC4: “Do you know have any idea what they might have been there for? “Well we assume they were there stealing,” she said.

Etc... etc... read the entire article, not one single solitary word about the confederate flag having one thing to do with this. There was a burglary in progress, family came home and surprised burglers in the act, altercation ensued, people got shot.

Crime, yes.

Confederate flag motivated hate crime? Doesn't say anything like that. Apparently the website that copied this story from NBC decided that since they saw a picture of the confederate flag at the scene they could just make up any headline they wanted to.

Respectfully, I am beginning to think there are many points of view with this subject. Some may even somewhat correct. I was born and raised in the Southern USA and my upbringing, knowledge, experiences and education reflect that point of view.

What I have experienced first hand over many years may not reflect or relate to what others born else where in the world may understand being taught by others or reading from some book. I have lived it. There is always room for intrepretation.

Sorry for speellling. No speelll chzk. No dictionary. Slight stroke. Very old coot. Ignore that silly man behind that curtain. Respectfully. :) :)

Yeeeeeah... and if there had been so much as one single post in this entire thread arguing individual citizens didn't have a right to be racist assholes then that would be even a little bit relevant to this discussion.

But nobody has done that. The lady in your little image has every right to be a racist, or to just be so completely fucking historically ignorant that she can't comprehend the racism that flag represents.

She just doesn't get to rewrite history and make those of us who know what that flag was made to represent and has been consistently used for throughout it's entire history pretend like there's no racism involved with it.

While it might be consider racist today by some let us understand that at that time in the South (USA) it was most certainly not considered racist at all. It was just the way it was.

Also consider that the average black slave of the South had an similiar quality of life, life expectacy, life choices, prospects and options of the poor whites in the Northern Company towns.

Consider the fact that the North also had slavery. The South had free blacks. Lincolns emanciapation proclaimation did not free Northern slaves. He also had no legal mandate to issue it.

The Deconstruction period of the South following the War Of Northern Agression did much more social, economic, and racial damage then the war. The South was under martial law for years.

It would appear that history tells us the intent of the North was to utterly destroy the South. They did a good job. Racial, cultural, social and economic conditions still exist today.

History is painted with a broad brush and only the victorious do the painting. The evil powers that be of the North saw the opportunity to rape and pillage the South and they did so.
