Books in the Honorverse, books in the 'modern' timeline where the novels with Honor Harrington in them are set, or books with Honor actually in them in more than a cameo role? Do you want short story anthologies too? And publication order or chronological order? (for the mainline novels, this is the same thing, but some of the side stories overlap, and many of the short stories were published out of chronological order) |

Check out this page on the Honorverse wiki. That has the order for the main series, the spin-offs, the anthologies, and the reference books. If you instead wanted all the books and stories in internal chronological order that's much more tricky. a) The later "mainline" books overlap in time with the Crown of Slaves and Saganami island "spin offs"; though it's unfair to call those spin-offs because major plot events that drive the "mainline" books happen there. b) while set centuries before the rest of the books, the Star Kingdom and Manticore Ascendant series also overlap in time. c) Each anthology has stories set is quite different periods (and in some cases the exact timing isn't clear); making it even harder to try and put the books in a pure chronological order. All that said the general recommendation is simply to read them in publication order. |

The general advice for the "modern" Honorverse books (anthologies, "mainline" Honor Harrington stories, Shadows series, and Torch series) is to read them in publication order, all mixed together. The Star Kingdom series (i.e. the young adult books) can be read separately, or ignored. And the Manticore Ascendant books (i.e. the Travis Long books) can also be read separately, or ignored. But the other books tie together too much (including the anthologies), and they are often written with the implicit expectation that you know what was in the previously published books. In order to get the storyline as written by the author, it is best to read them in publication order, at least the first time through.
Some have suggested trying to read them in internal chronological order after having read them first in publication order. --------------------------------------------

Welcome Ensign. Pull up a good chair, (Ohh ... not that one!) sit down and relax. This is liberty hall and you can call the cat a bastard. The first dozen rounds of special beer are on the house.
Glug ... glug ... glug. You will he amazed how many smart folks there are here. I am not one of them. You will have fun here thinking heavy thoughts about nothing in particular. I will try to find a good link for you. HB. |

In Enemy Hands (Jul 97) 8. More Than Honor (Jan 98)(Anthology) 9. Echoes of Honor (Oct 98) 10. World of Honor (Feb 99)(Anthology) 11. Ashes of Victory (Mar 00) 12. Changer of Worlds (Mar 01)(Anthology) 13. War of Honor (Oct 02) 14. The Service of the Sword (Apr 03)(Anthology) 15. Crown of Slaves (Sep03) 16. The Shadow of Saganami (Oct 04) 17.
