So, invading Dohlar this Spring with Eastshare seems to be off the table. Hanth will have to do what he can with what he has, including the river gunboats.

The strategic decision to focus on having your enemy concentrate his men so you can destroy them in one place seems wise given the tech advantage of the ICA. As long as they don't get too cocky about it.

I'm not sure about sitting down and telling the Archbishop. I don't get his need to know about The Plan(tm). A core idea of the Reformist movement is to separate the church and state.

It's one thing to treat a visiting high mucky muck as a valued guest, it's another to sit him down, break out the map, and tell him the Big Picture for the next few months.

Hello RunsForCelery!

Thank you so much for another fix!

Wow!

At a snippet every 18-19 days, I figure we might get another 4 before October 13th, which at this length is very fine.

There may be those who prefer more albeit shorter snippets, but that can be discussed on another thread.

Regarding the content, fascinating.

So DE drove Kaitswyrth 200 not 100 miles out of the forest, as he or Clyntahn reported to the Go4, and he's now anchored in a very defensible position, but if DE and EHM are combining with Symkyn, he is indeed toast in a couple month's, ie June.

This explains how Ahlverez is going to 'escape', they're letting him; but he and Dohlar won't know that until the hammer falls on Cahnyr.

What else will be happening to distract everyone besides BGV's endgame?

The MHoG may indeed be kept together or only halved to be sent just north and south because they'll have moved off in May, before Kaitswyrth gets his; but sooner or later the Go4 is going to split the MHoG much further because its too big and they need several smaller ones [including for things like flank security], which the allies can beat much more easily.

One wonders if something else won't also happen further south by then; remember the last 50,000 man ICA contingent, that left Port Royal at the end of September has yet to be seen again.

Given even the ICA can only support one winter campaign, a more tropical offensive seems the only obvious if not inevitable result remaining, ie taking the Salthar canal. :D 8-)

Taking the two sets of locks on each edge of the central plateau, approximately 160-180 miles apart, while they're ~150-160 miles from the coast, might be best approached from North Watch, the scout snipers infiltrating into the lock zones under the guise of moving herds of horses from the 'battleground' of the Gulf of Jahras, as the ICN and marines raid the remount depots and horse ranches throughout North Watch along the IDA's traditional route to invading the republic.

Given Silkiah's creation or semi-independence only in 869, there ought to be lots of 'old noble' Desnari families with vast properties in the new country who left some branch of the family to look after this particular family business, who still have an inside track to the IDA purchasing their horses, of whom collectively they have millions between the canal and the gulf which are at risk [the marines ship them quickly to Jahras Island where they are more slowly transported to Siddarmark], as well as an obvious potential source of animal reparations after the war.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nynian's SSK organization might have some investments in Silkiah, including 'old established' horse stud farms, that could easily hide platoons if not whole companies of scout-snipers filtering in over 5days when the time came to take both the locks and interrupt the semaphore chain.

Interesting times indeed.

Thanks again RFC!

So now we have 'shadow sister' being another Sejin and a male one at that. Nimue should be very invisible in that role and creates more Sejins to confuse anyone trying to keep up. They all seem to be Welsh.

As usual you are right on target. I wonder if those 50,000 might end up in the Gulf of Jahras and head across to the Salthar Bay end of the Canal. Dohlar needs something else to worry about other than Hanth. Rushing forces to the North in time to have a Southern Surprise. Oh if only October would get here.
