While I'm being pedantic, the Lexington class battlecuisers would have been assigned the type code "CC". which is in keeping with the "doubled first letter" (DD, BB, FF, SS) design of the type code system. The Alaska class were assigned the type code "CB" which supposedly stood for "Large Cruiser," but looks suspiciously like "Battle Cruiser." But BuShips swears it's not.

Yes the Alaska's were considered large cruisers because they did not have some design features that cruisers have but not battleships. like the fact that they have only one rudder versus twin rudders for all modern US battleships.

I know there are plenty of Ford F-150 types on the forum, and I hear HMS Stevedore packs lots of low end torque. You can always borrow her after work and take her home to pull stumps out of the ground - entire root system and all without breaking a sweat or revving the engine.

Cthia, That may work, but I believe the Stevedore class is more appropriate for removing the odd mountain in your backyard, than for removing stumps. My daddy always told me, "right tool for the right job..."

Meanwhile, half the ship or so can still haul freight delivering all sorts of things like prolong equipment, etc. to the Talbott sector planets, more LACS and pods to needful areas, 10th fleet resupply, etc.

There is that. Sure thing.

But perhaps you've never worked a farm and tried to pull out roots from a real tree, like White Oaks or Walnuts that have very strong deep taproots. Or Big Tooth Maples that have deep strong taproots and heart roots. The roots of those things are wrapped around mountains!

So, with a tug, I can pull two stones with one bird and make a mountain out of a molehill.

The Alaskas only had 9x12/50s in their main battery. Another reason to think "whomping' big cruiser" rather than battlecruiser. BBs required at least 14s to open, preferably 15in/38cm, and much better with 16s. Or even 50cm. New build BCs, at least by Jackie Fisher's logic, should have been equivalent. As the Lexingtons would have been.

The Stevedore-class was, alas, insufficient to remove a certain Adm. Santino's head from his anal orifice - all things have limits apparently.

That would take something capable of towing a planet. A bit much for any one ship IMO.

Ok, Peep Q-Ships were better offerings than Manty-Qs. I suppose Manty Q-Ships were jury-rigged on a rushed afterthought. It would have been nice to see two Q-Ships, Peep and Manty run into each other and watch the fireworks. A tactician's tickler would have been that battle's recipe.

After the dust settles between the major combatants and Theisman gets his dream of peace, there'll still be the element of piracy to deal with. Can you imagine what type of Q-Ship Shannon and Sonja can roll out of Bolthole? Of course, everyone will nickname the type: She Wolves of the SS

Why were they called Q ships? Was the Q to signify a question? Like, what the phuck is that? Or even better after the debris, what the phuck was that!?
