There was lots of excitement in the forum about the Sisters of St Khody and the diary. It was certainly interesting, but does it actually get us anywhere nearer to ending this war in another book or two?

A darned good question. If it does I suspect it will be due to her role in bringing down the G-4. How all that plays out remains in the murky future. It is a valid subject to speculate about, though.

Oh? Well, I'm able to speculate. I speculate that the history of seijin Kohdy will reveal the weaknesses that the Church of God Awaiting left for themselves as they fought and defeated the followers of Kau-yung.

I suspect that the immediate role the Sisterhood enjoys is that, they are a test case to see how the broader revelations of Langhorn's Lie plays out in Safeholdian society. After all these are people that already know that the church is a corrupt, evil beast, so the message of reform resonates with them. The question becomes can they accept the greater message of the lie underlying the whole edifice. If they can then Charis can start pushing towards the truth, if not... Then some other course will have to be adopted. If a group, already in rebellion against the church, cannot be brought in to the fold, then the average Safeholdian, loyal or at least neutral to the church, will never be convinced. The sisters are a canary in a coalmine so far as I can tell.
Of course if they can be brought over, they can provide a shock troop (psychologically speaking) for conversion in broader society. Time (and the story line) will tell.

There a lot about Nynian and the sisters we don't know...like how her covert action groups were recruited and trained...

Imagine Nynian and Major Phandys as lovers and he gives her the codes for entry into the Temple...and Clyntahn's appartment.

I think the most important things it does is two fold. First near term they now have a well established network of intelligence agents in the one area where its harder for charis to spy on with some action agents who already demonstrated their willingness and ability to strike targets in the heart of the temple lands.

Second long term is you for when you try to demonstrate what the truth really is and expose the lies a verified document from the time of the war against the fallen from somebody high in the "forces of light" showing that something was really not right is yet another wedge to allow them to open the door to what actually happened.
