so as min there must 25 floating about the galaxy somewhere.

The first HMS Nike, Nike-class, was a prototype that got lumped into a BC(P) squadron. When the second war broke out again, the Admiralty ordered quite a few more.

At least several dozen were completed before Oyster Bay hit. No doubt there were many more lost.

Note for 'known ships' on the wiki - those only list the vessels named in the books. The wiki is also unreliable to some degree - I've occasionally noticed sections of text that have been invented out of conjecture.

yes the new BC (L) Nike was part of eighth fleet in at all costs, i thiink it was.

presumably more were sent to eighth fleet later given that most of the agemenon's were ordered/ were going to be sent to sileasa. something in house of steel about them not being great for service against haven, but perfectly suited to areas where pod combat was unlikely?

Wayfarer class.
Load with MK 16 pods and truly ruin someone's day.
Lac's with full CM loadout.
Running the numbers and under the right circumstances you can play tag and win against a division of SD's.

I'm not sure a Trojan-class would be permitted Mk 16 pods. Too easy to disable one, and let your enemies see all your latest goodies.

Not to mention, it's almost an insult to any Captain of the List, to be a skipper on a Trojan. When Honor deployed with Alice Truman, Alice had just made list, and Honor felt it was an insult until she was told that Alice volunteered upon learning Honor would be the squadron CO.

Edit: came out a bit blunt, meant it more of a 'really? one of those old things??!?"

The RMN has this weird, weird mindset with BC(L)'s and BC(P)'s.
BC(L) - large as a battleship, tough as a battleship, definitely as dangerous as a battleship - no problem whatever using it as a battlecruiser successfully.
BC(P) - smaller than the BC(L), named a battlecruiser too, intended for use as a battlecruiser too, meant to shoot up other BC's on down like any BC - treated as a SD(P) and considered a disappointment when it does not take damage like a SD(P).

Needs must when the devil drives, and the devil was certainly driving after Thunderbolt. But you really ought to be able to bear that in mind and not judge a unit for getting destroyed doing things it was never built to do.

Not to mention that if you are going to send it out with SDs because you might have to fight a squadron of SDs you might want to arm it with missiles that can effectively kill SDs.

Not with Mk-16 pods you can't.

Oh you mean like all warships did before the MDM came along where they all had the same range?

Yea yea, lighter warheads vrs heavier etc... Don't know why this is a big deal, every battle, the BC's laying down defensive fire get wasted right along with the SD's at long range due to all the missiles flying around. May as well let the BC's fight back if you are going to bring them to the fight at all.

I'm torn between a DD and a BC. I have little interest in commanding a Waller. A DD fits many of my favorite scifi designs closer in equivalent crew size and roles of the current classes but a BC fills some of the roles of others from my favorite ship designs list as well so I'm torn.

I'd like to be a COLAC. I like what Truman does. I don't like the fact that she has to do it as I've always wanted to see Truman showing off her skills more like Honor in a Heavy Cruiser. Or even as Fleet Admiral, now.

But I think COLAC would suit me just fine. I'd have the most polished LACs in the fleet, a bunch of well-trained top-gun aces that has made a name for themselves. A CLAC that is requested everywhere. HMS SWARM.

Our motto is "We hyper in, enemy ships hyper out. We make 'em run like SDs - Scalded Dogs."

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense
