I'd also point out that the Stone is an integral part of the Key and Schueler's last ditch contingency plan (whatever it is). That makes any risk of losing control of the Stone unacceptable.

I dont remember where, but it was mentioned that Clynthan outright stole the vote for grand inquisitor from the already elected Wylsynn.
He just plain forged the results when it turned out he didnt actually win the election.

The time such a 'rediscovered' truth verifier would remain unvanished could probably be counted in microseconds.

It wouldn't vanish, it would go straight to the Inquisition's deepest, most important dungeons.

But as for the probability of it remaining in the hands of the Wyllsyns? Yes, that one would be absolutely nil.
