I presume that that is with VAT? What percent is that of the total?

In line with civilisation, the UK does NOT charge Vastly Abominable Tax on "dead tree" books, although it does on "e-books". (This latter is at least partly because of an EU(SSR) Diktat that the 0% rate band may not be extended to any new source.)

I have long grumbled about book price discrepancies between the UK and USA and for some years bought on-line at B&N and had a friend in Texas post them to me. It was STILL cheaper than the UK price. Otherwise I would give US colleagues from site going on home leave a "fistful of dollars" and a shopping list

FWIW, the nominal list price in the US is $27.99. How does £18.99 compare to UK list price?

£18.99 = $29.55

So pretty similar lost prices. It just seems the UK sells at list price (aka RRP) when the USA doesn't.

18.99 seems to be the list price. I have seen it a bit cheaper at the book depository - £2 cheaper, but nothing like the reduction you guys get... sigh

I wouldn't mind if RFC got the extra, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't. Oh well.

Well, you know that the Brussel's crowd have to have something to survive upon ... although I'm not quite sure what the EU Parliament actually does? It seems all of the 'activity' comes from the EU bureaucrats and courts!

So when does Cameron 'want' to bring the EU referendum?

I buy from Book depository UK because Amazon USA adds a US$12 Shipping fee while BD ships for Free to New Zealand

From Book depository UK -- Hell's Foundations Quiver -- is costing me NZD$36.09 = US$23.81
including shipping
