Many thanks, RFC, and don't worry about our having to wait. We all recognize that there are only 24 hours in the day, and only one of you!

Very interesting and thanks RFC. Lots of food for thought. Cannot believe I am agreeing with Lyonheart's assessment but I think you have hit it on the head with this one |

Ummmm SPOILERS (To quote Dr. River Song)
Are we talking Hale Rockets? <i.e. http://weebau.com/history/hale_rock.htm> Also
Is there any historical weapon that acted like this? And when did the Church start using cartridges? I've been imagining their St. Kylmahn to be pretty much like a Ferguson rifle, which didn't use a cartridge so this seems like a jump to me. Or am I thinking metal cartridge when he probably means paper? And in his description of fitting a bronze casting behind and around the artillery shells, would I be correct in thinking sabot? Sure don't like the increases they're talking about for production, but I doubt they (The GO4 and the church) realize just how much they have changed their society by some of the changes (like including women into the workforce) and the havoc it will cause, even if they were to win tomorrow. Not that I expect them to win, but on the other hand, some of you were making very rosy predictions about how fast the ICA and Siddarmark forces would be cutting off Howard and Dohlar and I got a feeling that it ain't going to be so one sided. Just a few thoughts. Larry |

Great Post! We're up to page 128 of the final book. Fantastic!
Just one thing - this new post represents a change of scene, but somehow the subchapter heading got omitted. For those of you who are as compulsive as me, the correct heading should read: .XI. St. Kylmahn’s Foundry City of Zion Temple Lands Thank you, great Ambler With Rhubarb! Philip Stanley |

Which will take a little algebra and trigonometry they don't have, and may not get unless Clyntahn being so eager to fulfill his visions of such carnage puts all of the best CoGA mathematicians, astronomers, engineers and surveyors etc on the project. Even then how long will it take them to come up with several centuries of mathematical and military concept breakthroughs? Always look for your take on the military stuff. Have you considered the quality of the troops involved? Used to do table top games and troops were rated, as Green, Vet, or Elite. And it has seemed to me that a lot of the Temple troops were Green when they started, and got little better beating up on Siddermarkians. Now, however, many of them have had "real combat" experience. Those that survive til spring will be tough veterans. For that reason, I would hope that the alliance will do everything in it's power to take most of those troops out of the equation before reinforcements arrive. Should the troops commanded by Ahlverez, Kaitswyrth, and Wyrshym be eliminated, then the Army of God will begin this campaign season with inexperienced troops again (although with better weapons). On the other hand, any troops that escape the net, can act as cadre and will provide expertize from actual battle to newly arrived untested soldiers. (I do recall that "The Host" was going to get professional Church officers-but that can only go so far.) (Now it may be that Runsfor hasn't seen fit to dwell on that aspect of combat because, one side is fighting for their God. And the other side either dies fighting or dies of torture. Not a lot of room for questions of morale.) |

So this is where that Tiny snippet from April came from. So who was right in their guesses on that? It is things like that and the toughness of the soldiers at St Esthyr’s, even under such a shock attack, that make me feel that HFQ is not just going to be a stroll in the park. Tho glad to see that Kaitswyrth is not feeling quite so 'boisterous' |

The only thing they have added so far that worries me at all are those rockets. Hopefully eberyone who might have to face them will be forewarned. Don When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

Yup - and besides working on the land, I guess that they could easily be used for coastal defence. Wooden ships would be v inviting targets, specially if COGA used some sort of incendary material as a payload. Even sail propelled ironclads would be vulnerable - at least as far as the masts and the crew above decks. |
