I just took a look at my copy of the MTaT map.
There're a lot of cool features on the mapping software. There're a bunch of 'missing' features that would make it even cooler.
It's not meant to be a cartographic system. More of a fantasy/gamer's tool for world-building.
I don't think His Weberness would bemoan my commenting upon it at a vague, general level. I mean... it's not like he'd kill me, or anything, right?
There are several hundred layers defined. Not all of them are on in the representation you've seen. Some of them seem to represent less-well-done early let's-learn-how-to-do-this types of not as well planned layers. There was a learning curve, no doubt.
One interesting, but deliberately turned-off layer is the global semaphore layer.
The map does seem to have a bit of a noticeable discontinuity between the extreme eastern & western edges - they don't
quite line up completely. It shows up most noticeably when viewing the map projected on a globe.
While there is what's labelled as a latitude layer, which was also off, I don't actually see where it renders when I turn it back on. (A quick recheck shows it to be some minor labeling for specific latitude data.)
There is also nothing that I've seen specifying the axial extents north or south.
0, 0 for the
map seems to be defined as being just south of the shoals off the coast of Emerald, out in the Charis Sea. Whether that is intended to be the 0, 0 point for the Temple's maps, I have no idea, but given the back-water nature of Charis Island, I'd tend to think not. I'd expect the Prime Meridian to run through The Temple of God.
This just gives him more wiggle room when he writes.
