I got it. Was better than the first one I thought, and it certainly advances the story arc.

I prefer real books to E-Arcs but out of curiosity do any frigates appear in this one? I know how RFC feels about frigates in the main era but this book is set long before they become outdated so I'm hoping some appear in this era. |

I don't remember seeing Frigates, but there are multiple Corvettes (9 iirc), and a couple play a key role. |

Maybe in the next book. And maybe we'll someday get a story from the very early days of the Manticore System defense fleet when frigates was all they had. Its nice to see the corvettes get some attention at least. |

I don't think we'll see frigates for a while. not until there is something resembling a merchant marine.
until that there is just no call for lots of ships for escort duty, which was a frigates primary duty. when honour joined the RMN, CLs were the main anti piracy/escort ship, having taken it over from frigates in the previous couple of decades. at the time of this series the SKM has about 4 freighters to its name. just about all shipping is brought in via non-manty ships don't forget that no-one outside axelrod even suspects there might a wormhole junction in SKM let alone how big it is. |

True but the frigates don't have to belong to the RMN to appear in a story. Also I doubt that there aren't a few frigates in the RMN fleet. Also Manticore had problems with pirate bases in nearby systems long before the story and they might keep a few frigates around to keep an eye out for any such bases forming and smash them early. |

Just signed in, and started reading the EARC.
On thing I noticed, was that the authors possibly spoilered themselves with the chart of dead Wintons and the dates. Did they mean to do that? and perhaps for the final edition this might be corrected. If you don't want to know, don't look. |

The years were already known, since it originally showed up in the anthology More than Honor, and also appeared in House of Steel.

From a newbie: Assuming that one has read those... Just don't show any charts of Travis's offspring, because the ongoing tension of "will Travis ever get a date" seems to be an integral part of the entire series. Thanks. |
